Principal Message

PQ Families,

As the final days of September approach, I am filled with gratitude for the wonderful start to the 2026–27 school year! Our students are settled into their classroom routines, and our teachers and support staff are working each day to provide engaging and meaningful learning experiences. PQ is a place where the joy of learning is on full display!

I am incredibly proud of the energy, enthusiasm, and sense of community that has filled our building throughout this first month of school. From the classroom to the playground and everywhere in between, our students are learning, growing, and embracing the opportunities that each day brings.

We are excited to welcome parents of students in grades 3-5 for curriculum night. Teachers will begin their presentations at 6 PM this evening.

If you are the parent of a 4th grade student or a new 5th grade student in band. Mrs. Dee will present at 5:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room.

We look forward to welcoming our 3-5 families tonight.

Curriculum Night Grades 3-5

Join us TONIGHT at 6pm for Curriculum Night

Band Curriculum Night

Sheri Dee will host Band Curriculum night in the Multi Purpose room TONIGHT at 5:30pm. This is for all 4th grade parents and first time 5th grade parents.

Cellphone and Smart Watch Reminder

As a reminder, NYS enacted a state wide "bell to bell" ban on student cellphone and smartwatch use during the school day. If students have cellphones and/or smartwatches they are to be turned off and not worn during the school day.

Emergency Drills

We are continuing to conduct emergency evacuation drills at PQ. These drills are an important part of helping students and staff understand how to respond calmly and safely in the event of an emergency

Student Leadership and Independence

Stephane Matteau Is Back!

We were so excited to welcome Stephane back to PQ this morning. He will continue the work he started last year with 4th and 5th graders this year.

Stephane focuses on building leadership skills in our students. He helps children to focus in on what makes them feel proud of themselves and ways to capitalize on their unique abilities in a positive way.

He will work with 4th grade students over the course of 4 days this fall and he will check back in with the now 5th graders over the course of 2 days this fall as well.

Frankie and Parker were working as partners & remained focused on their work in Wit & Wisdom. Together they read the article and worked diligently to try to find the main idea and key details. Way to go!

From the Nurse's Desk

Message from Nurse Zaetz

Back-to-school season brings students together, but the close contact in classrooms also accelerates the spread of seasonal germs. To ensure a healthy learning environment, the school nurse's office is open during all operational hours to assess students who feel unwell. Parents are strongly urged to keep children home if they exhibit symptoms of contagious illnesses to give them time to recover and to protect classmates.
