A Message from the Principal A Message from the Principal

Chapman families,

As we enjoy the holiday season, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to you and your family. This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our blessings and spend quality time with family and friends.

I hope this holiday season brings you joy, peace, and cherished moments. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to all that we will continue to accomplish together this school year.

Home Activities

From the National Center on Improving Literacy, here are some fun ways you can add literacy to activities at home!

  1. Make a List: Focus on letters, sounds, words, and ideas as you create your shopping lists.

  2. Write letters and cards: Talk about the importance of writing for authentic purposes, like thank-you notes and holiday cards.

  3. Engage in storytelling: Reading a story aloud or listening to an audiobook builds oral language skills. Ask your child questions throughout the story and have your child summarize the story at the end.

  4. Promote the joy of reading: Set aside reading time for everyone. Seeing family members read sets a great example for children.

  5. Hold family game nights: Games build so many great skills needed for reading! Vocabulary, critical thinking, and even spelling (with games like Boggle and Scrabble) are strengthened through play!

Happy Reading!
