Dear Panther Families,

As we begin November, I want to spend this month intentionally reflecting on gratitude, gratitude for our students, our staff, our families, and the opportunities we have each day to grow together. With Pre-ACT testing approaching next week, this is also an important time for students to stay focused, use the support available to them, and remember that preparation is built one day at a time. I am grateful for the teachers who challenge and encourage our students, for the families who continue to support them, and for the students who keep showing up and working toward what comes next. As we move through this month, I hope we all take time to recognize the people and opportunities helping us along the way, because success is rarely achieved alone. At North Johnston, we are many minds doing one work, supporting every Panther as they prepare for their future.

HOSA Trunk or Treat brings Panther's Together

North Johnston’s HOSA Trunk or Treat returned for its second year this Halloween, bringing students, families, and community members together for a fun evening on campus. Around 20 decorated trunks welcomed children for trick-or-treating, with students from HOSA, Band, and the Academy of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing helping make the event special. Academy students added an interactive twist by bringing out student-created games for children to play for candy, while Band created a memorable zombie experience that added plenty of Halloween spirit. More than anything, the evening was filled with smiles, laughter, and students using their talents to create a meaningful experience for others. We are proud of the way our Panthers continue to build community through service, creativity, and teamwork.

Students in North Johnston’s Academy of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing brought their learning to life at the HOSA Trunk or Treat by sharing a student-created game with families and children.

These projects were more than just fun, they were built through the same processes engineers use in the real world. Students practiced design thinking, critical thinking, problem solving, iteration, and responding to constructive feedback as they tested, revised, and improved their ideas. Experiences like this highlight the value of the Academy: students are not only learning engineering concepts, they are applying them in authentic ways that build creativity, confidence, collaboration, and skills that can lead to future opportunities in college and careers.
