West Point Junior High’s National Junior Honor Society is excited to announce the start of its annual Canned Food Drive. This important event brings our school community together to support families in need and fight food insecurity. Students, staff, and families are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items throughout the drive. Every can and box collected will help make a difference for local families during the upcoming holiday season. NJHS members are leading the effort by organizing collections, promoting participation, and volunteering their time. Members will also earn service hours for their contributions and leadership. To make things even more exciting, there will be rewards for top contributors and classes that show the most school spirit. Together, we can turn small acts of kindness into a big impact. Join us in showing what it means to care, share, and serve. Let’s make this year’s Food Drive the most successful one yet!

The Food Drive is happening now and runs through November 7. Bring in Canned food, Dry Cereal, Boxed items and nothing in glass. Food bins are located by the front office. Thank you for your support.

Warriors Are Wonderful — We’re Looking for Sponsors!

Hey Warrior Community!

It’s that time of year again — our annual Warriors Are Wonderful fundraiser is here! Over the past five years, West Point Junior High has raised and donated more than $38,000 to local charities, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. This year, we’re setting our sights on a new goal — $15,000 — to support two amazing causes that directly impact local families:

• Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP)

A national organization that builds and delivers beds to children who don’t have one. Every donation helps make sure no child sleeps on the floor. Learn more

• Warrior Haven

Our very own Family Connection Center here at WPJH! Warrior Haven provides students experiencing homelessness or hardship with bedding, clothing, snacks, hygiene products, and family resources. More info

How Local Businesses Can Help

Our local sponsors are the heart of this fundraiser! Your support helps us teach students the power of giving back. All donations are tax-deductible and make a lasting impact right here in Davis County.

Sponsor Benefits:

• Recognition in our weekly school newsletter (reaching over 2,000 patrons)
• Public thanks during our Warriors Are Wonderful assemblies, including the Closing Celebration on December 19, 2025
• Recognition on our school website and social media
• $600 or more: Receive a 3’×5’ banner displayed in our gym for an entire year, seen by students, families, and the community during games, assemblies, and city events!

Ways to Give

Monetary Donations: Click here to donate

In-Kind Donations: Gift cards, merchandise, coupons, or Sleep in Heavenly Peace items (twin sheet sets, comforters, pillows, wood, or tools). These items also serve as incentives for students who serve and give during the fundraiser!

Donations can be mailed to West Point Junior High or given directly to a visiting representative.

Together, let’s continue our tradition of kindness, community, and Warrior pride. Let’s show what it means to be Warriors Who Are Wonderful!

The heart of WPJH beats right inside our front office, where four amazing women keep our school running with grace, humor, and endless patience. From the moment anyone steps through the door, they are met with smiles, calm voices, and the feeling that everything is under control.

Katie fills the office with joy and creativity, crafting and displaying amazing decorations that make every season feel special. Brenda is the first face most people see—warmly greeting each visitor while keeping student attendance running like clockwork. Jolene’s bright smile and “I’ve got it” attitude mean that no request ever goes unanswered, and Jen, somehow buried under 700 emails and stacks of receipts, still finds time to look up, smile, and make everyone feel welcome. On top of all that, they somehow find the time and energy to plan breakfasts, celebrations, and end-of-year events that look like they were pulled off by professional party planners—each one filled with thoughtful touches that make staff feel celebrated and appreciated. They do so much more than the few things I have listed, and each one of them consistently goes ABOVE and BEYOND for the faculty, staff, and students of WPJH.

WPJH is a good place to be—and that feeling starts right in the office. You will never leave the office without feeling welcome and taken care of thanks to these four incredible women who set the tone for our entire school. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care make everyone who walks through our doors feel seen, supported, and at home.

Thank you for all you do Jen Jacobsen, Brenda Pehrson, Katie McNeill, and Jolene Merrill!

Mrs. Gabbitas: An English and Yearbook Teacher

Mrs. Gabbitas is a teacher here at West Point Jr High. She teaches 7th and 8th grade English and our Yearbook class. She has been a teacher for 13 years. She has always had a love for school and learning.

"I loved school, I loved learning. My classmates all hated it and said it wasn't fun, so I was like, I can make it fun." -Mrs. Gabbitas

She finds that the students are what make the job so fun. "I'm only me when I am around my family and my students." She loves being able to make up the lessons and enjoys being creative. She helps keep the students engaged in the lesson by talking to them like people and not just teaching them. She also enjoys keeping the students engaged by playing games with them. We love having Mrs. Gabbitas at our school.
