The Badger Bulletin
Brandywine Elementary Monthly Newsletter
Message from Mrs. Tremps
Dear Brandywine Community,
I hope you’re doing well as we step into March and prepare for the final stretch of the school year. It’s amazing to see how much our Badgers have grown—academically, socially, and as leaders in our building. Their curiosity and determination continue to inspire all of us.
With the arrival of warmer days, many students begin to feel that familiar burst of “spring energy.” This shift can sometimes make it harder for children to stay focused or settle into routines. A few simple strategies at home can make a big difference during this lively season:
Keep Routines Steady: Predictable schedules help children stay grounded, especially when everything around them feels more active and exciting.
Get Outside: Fresh air and movement are great outlets. Whether it’s a walk, a sport, or time at the park, outdoor play helps channel extra energy in positive ways.
Encourage Creativity: Hands-on projects—drawing, building, music, or crafting—give kids a productive way to express themselves.
Practice Calm Moments: Breathing exercises, quiet reading, or short mindfulness activities can help children reset when they feel overwhelmed.
Reinforce Expectations: Clear reminders about behavior and responsibilities at home and school help students stay on track.
As always, please take a moment to review the important dates and updates included in this newsletter. Spring is a busy time, and staying informed ensures your family doesn’t miss out on upcoming events and opportunities.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our school community is stronger because of you.
(Repeat) Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program: Application Opened January 15
Our Dual Language Immersion program continues to be one of Brandywine’s most dynamic and enriching opportunities for students. As we prepare for the next school year, we are excited to welcome new families to learn more about this growing program.
What Makes DLI Special?
Bilingualism and Biliteracy
Students learn academic content in English and Spanish from their earliest school years. By participating in DLI, children develop strong communication skills in both languages, an advantage that extends far beyond elementary school.
Academic Growth and Cognitive Benefits
Recent studies continue to show that students in Dual Language Immersion programs experience measurable academic gains. Many DLI students meet or exceed grade‑level expectations in both languages as they progress through the program.
Global Competence
DLI aligns closely with the Forsyth County Schools Learner Profile by helping students become culturally aware, adaptable, and globally minded. Being able to navigate more than one language opens doors to deeper cultural understanding and future academic and career opportunities.
What DLI Looks Like at Brandywine
- Students spend approximately half of their instructional day in English and half in Spanish.
- Literacy, math, science, and social studies are taught across both languages.
- Native English speakers and native Spanish speakers learn side by side, supporting one another and strengthening language development for all students.
- Students develop confidence communicating, problem‑solving, and thinking in two languages.
Learn More or Apply
If you believe DLI might be the right fit for your rising kindergartener, or if you simply want to learn more about this unique and transformative learning opportunity, we encourage you to explore the program further.
DLI Information Night at Brandywine is March 19th at 5:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Counseling Connection
March BWE Newsletter (2026)
Happy March Madness Badgers! We have plenty of action going on in our counseling world. February’s Kindness Week was amazing. Every classroom was given the challenge of completing all kindness tasks on our kindness bingo cards. The winning class from each grade received a special treat to celebrate all their hard work. We always remind our students that even though Kindness Week is over, it’s still so important to choose to be kind.
For our counseling lessons, all classrooms engaged in a kindness lesson that worked on discussing what kindness is and how we can spread it around our building. In first grade, our quote is “kindness starts with one” from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. This serves as a reminder that a wave of kindness, can start with them; all they need to do, is one act of kindness. Coming up with our counseling lessons, K-2 will be diving back into the Zones of Regulation. 3-5 will be completing our safety lessons. We can’t wait!
We will be having our next community outreach event on Saturday, March 28th. The Place’s mobile food pantry and Forsyth Community Clinic at Brandywine will be available for anyone in need. The mobile pantry will be here 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the community clinic will be here 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The food pantry will have non-perishable goods, meat, eggs, and produce as available. The clinic will be offering multiple services at zero cost for uninsured, Forsyth County residents aged 18 to 65. Services include physical exams, disease management (i.e., diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, etc.), blood testing, medication prescriptions, specialist referrals, and mental health programming.
No appointment necessary. Please spread the word and we hope to see you there!
Lastly, our amazing school social worker Kim Alvarez, is conducting a parent strategy class over the course of six weeks. Classes will be on Monday nights 6:00-8:00pm. Childcare and a light meal will be provided. The first class is Monday, March 9th so please see the information attached and register ASAP.
Have a fantastic March!
Notes from the Media Center
Save the Date- Tuesday, March 24th 5:30-7:00
The Denmark Community Schools are partnering with the Denmark Public Library for celebration! Our families are all invited! Students will be able to watch a puppet show, complete crafts with high school helpers, play games in the outdoor amphitheater, and learn how to find and checkout books in the library. Our public library system has so much to offer and I look forward to seeing you there.
Book Vending Machine!
Our local South Forsyth Rotary Club donated a book vending machine to Brandywine! It is stocked with new books waiting to be read. Students can try to win a trip to the vending machine with our latest Beanstack challenge (viewable on Classlink) or they can purchase a trip with PBIS points. We are very excited about this new addition to our Media Center.
