Jag Wire
Week 12: November 2nd-6th
A Message from the Principal
Fall is in the air, Jags! We had our first cross country meet of the year, basketball season is in full swing, and cooler weather is finally on the way! As we "fall back" and set our clocks for Daylight Saving Time, we hope everyone enjoyed a little extra rest and is ready for another great week at SMS!
With the time change, evenings will get darker earlier. Please remind your child to use extra caution when walking or riding a bike to and from school, especially during the early morning and evening hours.
A quick reminder about morning arrival: Our front parking lot and front driveway are not available for parent parking or waiting during morning drop-off. Please drop your child off and keep moving so we can maintain a safe and efficient arrival process. If you need to wait, please do so along the road rather than in the front parking lot or driveway. Thank you for helping us keep things moving!
A HUGE shoutout to our PTO for treating our entire staff to delicious pizza to take home on Tuesday and for organizing our Spirit Day at Parry's! It was such a fun day, and we loved seeing parents surprise their students with lunch and so many families join us for the celebration. We appreciate everything our PTO does for Sartartia!
And finally, a BIG thank-you to all of our amazing parent volunteers who helped make our fall dance a success! We truly could not have done it without you. Our dance is also a fundraiser for SMS, and we raised almost $2,500 to put right back into school events, activities, and classrooms for our students. Thank you for giving your time and helping make these special experiences possible for our Jags!
We are so grateful for the incredible support of our Sartartia community. It takes all of us working together to make SMS such a special place. Let's have a great week, Jags!
Ready. Set. Roar!
Your Proud Principal,
Cholly Oglesby

Information & Updates
We need your help, Jags! We have seen an increase in restroom vandalism and inappropriate behavior, particularly in the boys' restrooms. Recent incidents have included students urinating on floors, putting glue on toilets and walls, and throwing toilet paper onto walls and ceilings.
Not only does this create additional work for our custodial staff, but it also creates serious sanitation concerns for everyone. As a result, some restrooms have had to be temporarily closed due to repeated incidents. We want all students to have access to clean, safe restrooms, and we need everyone's help to make that happen.
A Few Important Reminders:
Whenever possible, use the restroom during passing periods rather than missing class time.
Students should not leave class during the first or last 10 minutes of a class period unless there is an emergency.
Use the restroom closest to your classroom. Do not travel to other areas of the building to use the restroom.
Keep restrooms clean. Use the facilities appropriately, throw trash away, and leave the space as you found it.
Report vandalism or inappropriate behavior to an adult immediately.
We are increasing restroom monitoring and working to identify students responsible for these incidents. Students who participate in vandalism or inappropriate behavior will face disciplinary consequences.
Parents, please take a few minutes to talk with your child about making good choices and respecting our school facilities. These restrooms are shared by more than 1,200 students, and it is everyone's responsibility to help keep them clean and usable. We want to keep our restrooms open and accessible for all students. Let's show some Jaguar pride and take care of our campus
