Happy Fall, Farley Families and Caregivers!
Our new Farley School Nurse, Lindsay Maule and Coordinator of Health Services, Allyson O’Malley wrapped up their talk with our 4th grade students about healthy habits and hygiene during this week of October 13th-16th.
Please see below for more important updates, reminders, and announcements.
Attendance and Dismissal Reminders
To ensure a safe and organized dismissal for all students, please notify both the main office and your child's homeroom teacher of any absences or changes to dismissal plans.
Teachers are actively engaged in instruction throughout the school day and might not see messages about dismissal changes in time.
We ask families to communicate dismissal changes at least two hours before dismissal whenever possible. This provides our office staff, teachers, and other responsible staff members adequate time to coordinate changes and ensure students arrive at their correct dismissal locations.
School Procedures and Family Partnership
At Farley, our schoolwide procedures help us maintain a safe, respectful, and organized learning environment for all students, families, and staff.
- We ask all families and caregivers to follow established school procedures, including morning arrival, dismissal, parking, and student safety expectations.
- Our staff members are responsible for communicating and reinforcing these expectations consistently. When a staff member provides a reminder or direction regarding school procedures, we ask families to respond respectfully and cooperate with the guidance provided.
- We recognize that families sometimes have questions or concerns about a school procedure. We welcome respectful communication and encourage families to contact the main office or school administration for clarification.
Our shared expectations of being respectful, responsible, and ready extend to how we interact as a school community. Modeling respectful communication and following established procedures helps us maintain a positive environment for our students and the adults who support them.
Thank you for respecting our staff, following school procedures, and partnering with us to keep Farley safe and welcoming for everyone.
Pumpkin Day Celebration in the cafeteria on October 28, developed by our UMASS nutrition intern Connie Barth!
As part of our celebration, the Food Service Department will be setting up a special Pumpkin Day table where students can participate in some fun, educational activities and learn a little more about this favorite fall food.
Students will have the opportunity to:
· Taste Test Pumpkin Applesauce – Students can sample a delicious fall-inspired pumpkin applesauce (ingredients pumpkin, applesauce, cinnamon, vanilla extract)
· Learn About Pumpkin Nutrition – Students will receive a Pumpkin Nutrition Facts coloring sheet to take home and enjoy.
· Guess how many Pumpkin Seeds – Students can take their best guess at how many pumpkin seeds are in the jar!
Our goal is to make lunchtime fun and interactive while encouraging students to explore new foods and learn about nutrition along the way.
Best Regards,
