Extended Deadline - Jan. 3, 2025

Award Nominations Make a Difference!
🚩We're EXTENDING THE DEADLINE for Key to the Classroom Awards for teachers and Rosemary Zander Awards for students to JANUARY 13! Take advantage of the extra week to give our exceptional staff and students a spotlight for their progress and achievements!
Giving recognition to others is a way to generate amazing positivity and strength within our school district. Let's use the opportunity to take inspiration and guidance from our nominees and award winners this year and know success is possible for everyone!
Ideally, we'll celebrate amazing SSD staff members from every corner of the county this spring! Our Salutes Awards have a category for every staff position in SSD (and one for administrators not employed by SSD). But our goal to include a diverse pool of award candidates can only be realized if we receive quality nominations from our partner districts and SSD schools.
We all know someone who inspires, motivates, or helps us accomplish our goals in SSD - let's thank them by nominating them for some long overdue recognition. Nominators are the backbone of our recognition endeavors and will receive an invitation to our Salutes event if their nominee wins an award. Reminder: Key to the Classroom nominations are due Jan. 13, 2025.
All you need to do is complete an easy nomination form by the deadlines noted below. Your efforts on behalf of everyone who works alongside your nominee will be deeply appreciated!
- Key to the Classroom (classroom teachers, due Jan. 13)
- Distinguished Leadership (SSD & PD administrators, due Jan. 13)
- Special Ambassador (community partners, due Jan. 21)
- Lasting Impression (operations/support staff, due Jan. 27)
- Building Block (paraprofessionals, due Feb. 3)
Students who have shown remarkable progress and have become an inspiration to their peers deserve to be celebrated! You can help by nominating a student for a Rosemary Zander Award. These awards are for students ages 3-21 who receive at least one SSD service or attend an SSD tech school.
Last year we presented these awards to 16 SSD students. A celebration of the award winners and their nominators will be held on April 29 at the St. Louis County Clark Library Branch. Reminder: Zander nominations are due Jan. 13, 2025. Read details and access the nomination form here...
Help SSD students pay for their postsecondary education by encouraging them to apply for any of the SSD-administered scholarships or the John Cary Scholarship, sponsored by the Special Education Foundation. The deadline for SSD-administered scholarships is Feb. 28; the deadline for the Cary Scholarship is Jan. 24.
These unique scholarship opportunities are for students who receive at least one service or attend an SSD tech school, and will graduate in Spring 2025. Visit SSD scholarship opportunities to learn more, or provide the link to students who qualify to apply.
