Being Thankful

"Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life. Appreciate and never take for all granted that you have."

We see the twinkling lights already—we know Christmas is coming! But hold the eggnog for just a minute. Before we jump straight from the pumpkin pie to the peppermint bark, let's respect the act of saying thank you. Because waiting 364 days for the next big feast just isn't enough.

I love joking with my administrative assistances about how the Christmas season swallows up the Turkey Day because Mariah Carey just can't be contained! Let's do our best to be kind each day and be thankful for what we have each day!

The Shelby-Rising City Music Department is proud to announce that Kasey Fischbach and Nevaeh Martinez have been selected to represent our school in the 2025 Nebraska Music Education Association All-State Chorus! Rehearsals will take place from Thursday, November 20 through Saturday, November 22 in Lincoln. The event will culminate in a public concert at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 22 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, UNL campus.

Activities Banquet on December 7th

After careful consideration of all teams and coaches, the Fall Activities Banquet will be MOVED to December 7, at 6:00pm. The SRC Booster club will provide a sandwich meal and the four fall teams will present.

We understand changing the banquet this late can be an inconvenience to some, but we truly appreciate the communities flexibility and support as we navigate this new banquet style. We want all athletes and coaches to be done with the season, postseason awards to be out, and every fall sport to be together.

We thank you for your continued support and hope to see you at the fall seasonal banquet.

Thank you!

✨Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)✨

Congratulations goes to our own Becky Schueth who has been named a State Finalist for this award!

Mrs. Schueth is currently teaching high school mathematics here at SRC. This is her 11th year at S-RC and I teach Geometry, Technical Math, College Algebra, PreCalculus and Calculus. Becky has 20 years of experience in teaching and she began her career at Columbus High School. Mrs. Schueth Bachelor’s (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees are from Wayne State College. Message from Mr. Tejkl

    Giving Thanks Everyday...

    Good morning!

I hope your Sunday is off to a great start and your weekend was a great one! Let's finish this week off and give our best for the next two days and we can then enjoy Thanksgiving break! I do wish everyone a fantastic break and I hope you are able to enjoy with friends, family, and loved ones.

As the holiday season approaches, our focus naturally turns toward family, connection, and reflection. While the holidays give us a reason to pause and express thanks, the true joy of the season is found in the spirit of appreciation and kindness we share every single day.

This year, let's look beyond the holiday table and focus on two vital things: being thankful for the moments we share and committing to extend that kindness all the time—to each other!

"Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life. Appreciate and never take for all granted that you have."

I encourage everyone at SRC to take this message to heart by focusing on appreciating both the big and small moments and acting with kindness each day:

    • Appreciate the Moments: We are in the industry of memory-making. Take a few extra minutes to be truly present—put the phone away during dinner, listen without distraction to a story, or pause to acknowledge a colleague's hard work. These shared moments are the things we should never take for granted.

    • Practice Constant Kindness: Think of kindness as a resource that should never run out. It is what makes us who we are.

    • The Daily Thank-You: Let the holiday spirit inspire your daily habits. Just as we are grateful for the gifts we receive, be grateful for the people who make up our community. A simple, genuine "thank you" or a smile is a powerful tool to spread that holiday warmth and positivity long after the decorations are put away.

Enjoy Thanksgiving and have a terrific break! Don't play Christmas music too early either!

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Quote of the week to reflect on:

"Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life. Appreciate and never take for all granted that you have."

    Catherine Pulsifer

    Sincerely,

    Tucker Tejkl
