September 15, 2025

The weather has been spectacular and we've been saying that it feels like fall when the students arrive and summer by the time they leave for the day. Our afterschool programs, drama club and Finding Our Stride running club, are underway.
We are holding our first kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade school sing on Friday, September 26th. Families are invited and it will be held in the gym. You can check in at the front office between 1:50 and 2:00. The students start arriving in the gym around 2:00 and the sing will be over at 2:45. Parents will then leave the building and we will dismiss using PikMyKid as per usual.
Our September spirit day is also on the 26th and details are below.

Notes from the Nurse
FLU SEASON - It is hard to believe that we have to start thinking about flu season when the thermometer is still reading 70 degrees, but the fall and winter seasons are quickly approaching. The American Academy of Pediatrics continues to recommend that anyone over 6 months of age, without medical contraindications, receive the flu shot this season. Unfortunately, the Lebanon School District will not be hosting Flu Clinics this year. However, there are many options in our community. Please review the following links to find one that works best for you:
Various Locations in our Community:

Free Flu Clinics at DHMC for ages 12 and up (children under 12 should consult independent medical provider’s offices): https://www.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/flu/lebanon-schedule
DENTAL CLINIC - The Upper Valley Smiles Program from APD is going to visit HSS the week of October 6th to provide dental support to those students WHO OPT IN to the program. Forms for this event are going home with students this week. It is recommended that all students at the elementary school age visit a dentist twice a year. If you have Medicaid, there are many dental offices in our area that accept this insurance. If you need assistance setting up dental care for your child, please contact me. In the meantime, please check out this FREE DENTAL CLINIC ON 9/20:

PTO Updates
Hello Hanover Street School Families,
Our PTO kicked off the year with our first meeting earlier this month, and we’re excited to share some updates and opportunities to get involved as we head into a busy and fun fall season!
🎲 Fall Game Night – Coming in October!
Our annual Fall Game Night is right around the corner! Details will be shared soon, so keep an eye out. We’ll also be looking for volunteers—if you’d like to help make this event a success, we’d love to have you.
🌳 School Yard Committee
Do you have ideas for making our playground more engaging and fun? Our School Yard Committee is working to add natural elements to the outdoor space, and we’d love new members! Join us for our next meeting on Thursday, October 23rd at 4:30 pm in the HSS Library.
🎉 Cultural Celebration Committee
The Cultural Celebration Committee invites you to join our newsletter! Our goal is to make it easy for parents to share their special family traditions with their child's classroom and the HSS community. Please follow this link to sign up for the newsletter as we have an exciting year ahead! Click here if you would like to peek at the calendar of parties coming up. Major events for the fall include Rosh Hashanah and Diwali before Lunar New Year.
We’ll be serving apples & honey on Wednesday, September 24th during lunch (11:15 a.m.–12:45 p.m.) in celebration of Rosh Hashanah. If you’re interested in helping out, email the PTO or contact Laila directly at labdo48@gmail.com
🎨 First-Ever Craft Fair – November 8th & 9th
In collaboration with the Mount Lebanon and Lebanon Middle School PTOs, we’re excited to host our first ever Craft Fair at Lebanon High School! This event is a perfect place to shop handmade goods while supporting our schools—all proceeds will directly benefit the three PTOs. We’ll need volunteers to help run the fair—if you’re interested, please sign up here: Lebanon Craft Fair Volunteers
👕 Show Your HSS Spirit
Interested in some HSS gear? Check out our online spiritwear store! Proceeds go right back to supporting PTO programs at HSS.
🔔 A Friendly Reminder for Families
We’re so excited to welcome so many new families to Hanover Street School this year! As a quick reminder, all visitors must park in the front parking lot, check in at the front office, and wear a visitor badge while on school grounds during the school day. These steps help us keep our school safe and secure for all students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation!
📅 Next PTO Meeting
Mark your calendars! Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 2nd, from 6:30–7:30 pm in the HSS Library. We’d love to see you there.
Warmly,
Katie
President, HSS PTO
