Hello Rolling Hills Families,

Another exciting school year is underway, and we are thrilled to welcome back our returning students as well as those who are new to Rolling Hills. We are equally excited to welcome several new staff members to our team this year:

  • Mrs. Emily Madden and Mrs. Collette Moriarty – 4K Teachers
  • Miss Ashley Malsch – 3rd Grade Teacher
  • Miss Alivia Mendez – 6th Grade Teacher
  • Mr. Thomas Karman – Art Teacher
  • Mr. Clayton Burt – School Counselor
  • Mrs. Lyndsay Fercho – Special Education Paraprofessional
  • Mrs. Julie Lenz – General Education Instructional Assistant
  • Mr. Joshua Fischer and Mrs. Kim Krause – Recess Monitors
  • Mrs. Cheryl Klumb - Food Service

Please join me in giving them a warm Rolling Hills welcome—we are so glad they are part of our

school family!

At Rolling Hills, our priority is creating a safe, positive, and supportive environment where all students can thrive. We know that students succeed best when school and home work together.

When children feel their families are invested in their education, they are happier, more confident,

and more successful in school.

Our discipline philosophy focuses on fairness, consistency, and personal responsibility. We strive to

create an atmosphere where respect, kindness, and acceptance of differences are the norm. Please

take a few minutes to review the Raptor Way with your child:

At Rolling Hills, we love blue and live gold by roaring like a Raptor:

  • R = Respectful
  • O = On Task
  • A = Accountable
  • R = Reach for Excellence

We also believe communication between parents, students, and teachers is essential. Our Mission at Rolling Hills is to “strengthen and support learning and growth for everyone through ongoing improvement.” Our Vision is to “achieve excellence in education, community, and personal

development, paving the way for success in future opportunities.”

Please don’t hesitate to share information that will help us better serve your child and your family.

Together, we can create the best learning environment possible. I look forward to another wonderful year of learning, growing, and achieving together.

Go Raptors! – Empower Excellence!

Sincerely,

Dr. Ron Schlicht

Grandparent & Special Guest Lunch Week is September 28th through October 2nd.

If you’re new to Rolling Hills, Grandparent & VIP Lunch Week is a special opportunity for students to invite a grandparent or another important adult in their life to join them for lunch at school! After lunch, guests and students can head to the Scholastic Book Fair together during the student’s lunch recess. 📚

Each grade will have a recommended day to help minimize classroom disruptions and make scheduling easier. However, guests are welcome to come ANY day they are available! Students must attend their regularly scheduled lunch period and will not be taken out of academic time to attend another grade’s lunch. If you are visiting multiple students, you are welcome to stay between lunch periods.

A few important things to know:

  • Reservations are required and must be completed using the Google form.
  • Guests will check in through the main lobby when they arrive.
  • Guests should bring their own lunch, as lunch will not be available for purchase.
  • Please do not bring outside restaurant food for students (Culver’s, McDonald’s, Cousins, etc.).
  • The Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the library during all lunch recess periods, giving students and their guests plenty of time to enjoy lunch first and then shop together afterward!

We love this week because it gives some of the special people in our students’ lives a chance to visit Rolling Hills, experience a little piece of their school day, and make a fun memory together!

Monday, September 28th - Grade 5 at 12:00 p.m. and Grade 6 at 12:10 p.m.

Student Absences Student Absences

If your child will be late or absent from school, you must either enter the absence online through Infinite Campus, or call the school attendance line at 262-363-6318. When the auto attendant answers, press 1. This line is available 24 hours a day. Reporting your child’s absence helps reduce the number of calls the office needs to make to ensure all students are accounted for. This is an important part of our safety procedures.

To enter an absence on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please view the instructions HERE

Hot Lunch Hot Lunch

If your child brings lunch from home, they may purchase milk, which will be charged to their hot lunch account. Each student has a hot/cold lunch account, which requires a minimum prepayment of $25.00. Each time your child eats hot lunch or purchases milk, the amount is deducted from their current balance. You can check the balance at any time via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. You will receive an automated phone call when the account reaches a low or negative balance. Payments can be made online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (REVTrak Webstore) or by check payable to Rolling Hills Elementary and submitted to the school office.

Welcome back!! We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2026-2027 school year. During the first weeks back to school we will review The Raptor Way with all students. We strive to make sure we are all following the ROAR (Respect, On task, Accountable, Reach for excellence) commitments in classrooms, throughout the school building, on the playground, and while riding the bus. The Raptor Way team worked hard on creating new and updated posters that will be hung around the building to remind students about their commitments to following the Raptor Way. They will be introduced to these new posters and some new language the first week of school. Students following the Raptor Way are being rewarded with Raptor Roar Cards. They can use the cards as a form of money to purchase some very fun items at the Roar Store.

The Roar Store will open in October. We like to switch up some of the items monthly. There are many physical items the students can purchase, along with other special rewards like ‘Extra Time in the Library’, ‘Morning Announcer’, ‘After School Dismissal Announcer’, ‘Lunch with a Teacher’, and ‘Secret Agent’ where they get their own stack of ROAR cards to hand out to their peers.

New this year! Families may now donate items for the Roar Store through Amazon. At the bottom of every monthly newsletter there is a tab to order a specific item for the Roar Store. Your support is greatly appreciated!

We are looking forward to a great school year!

Health Room Update Health Room Update

New this year, parents will receive an automatic notification via Infinite Campus Messenger when their child is in the health room at some point during the school day. Parents will not be notified if this is a scheduled medication or treatment.

However, parents will still be called, as normal, if your child receives a head bump, major injury, is too sick to remain in school, or has an urgent need. For reasons your child may be too sick to remain in school, please check out this Too Sick for School document from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Please contact your child’s school health room with any questions.

𝄞 A note from the Orchestra 𝄞 𝄞 A note from the Orchestra 𝄞

Students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade are eligible to join the orchestra and learn to play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, or cello)! Anyone is welcome to join, even if you do not have any playing experience. Orchestra days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ms. Kosier will be visiting classrooms during the first week of school with sign-up forms for students to take home, and more information about when large group classes and lesson groups will be meeting. For now, here is a timeline of dates to look out for:

Week of September 7th: 5th and 6th graders begin small group lessons with instruments.

September 9th: Instrument Fitting Night at RHES 6:00pm for 4th graders and any other new Orchestra students.

September 10th: Instrument Fitting Night at CES 6:00pm (you do not need to attend both evenings, just pick which one works best for you)

September 17th: 4th grade begins meeting for Orchestra classes! We will not need instruments this week, to allow families time to secure their instrument rentals. 4th graders need to have instruments ready by the week of September 21st.

Please reach out at kosieja@masd.k12.wi.us if you have any questions. It's going to be a great school year!!!
