Grandview Elementary
Parent/ Family Update - August 1, 2025

October 24, 2025
From the Principal:
Dear Grandview Families,
Fall is in the air, and our building is buzzing with learning—and a little Halloween excitement!
As we head into Halloween week, here are a few reminders:
🎃 Halloween Parade: Our annual costume parade will take place on Friday, October 31st at 1:45 p.m. Students will leave the building and follow our traditional route—down Foote Avenue, left on Center, left on Washington, and back to school via Grandview. Families are invited to line the sidewalks and cheer on our students!
Please note that this is a costume parade only—not a trick-or-treat event—so no candy is needed.
🎉 Classroom Parties: After the parade, classes will celebrate with classroom parties. If you’d like to donate items or help out, please reach out to your child’s teacher through ClassDojo.
👻 Post-Halloween Reminder: After the big night, please remind students to keep their candy at home. Sweet treats are best enjoyed after school, not during the school day.
As we close out October, thank you for your continued partnership in keeping attendance strong and students ready to learn each day. We appreciate your support and hope everyone enjoys a safe, fun Halloween full of more treats than tricks!
With Tiger pride,
Dr. Susan Short
Principal, Grandview Elementary
Bundle Up—Cooler Weather is Here!
As the temperatures start to drop, please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Students go outside for recess whenever possible, so jackets, hats, and layers are encouraged to help keep everyone warm and comfortable throughout the day.

Counselor's Corner:
Dear Grandview Families,
October’s Character Trait Focus: Responsibility
This month we are focusing on Responsibility, which we define as: taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. You can learn more about this month’s focus by checking out the latest Character Strong newsletter.
Family Resource
The Purposeful People library is a wonderful tool that organizes book lists by character trait. Consider checking some titles out from your local library or searching YouTube for read-aloud versions. Reading or listening to books together is a great way to start meaningful discussions about responsibility and other important values.
Please remember, I’m here to help support our Tigers. If you have concerns about your child, don’t hesitate to reach out.
