Wolverine Weekly Updates
Week of February 17-28, 2025
A Message from Mrs. Ushery
Greetings Wynbrooke Family,
Happy February Break! We had a fabulous Black History Month Spirit Week, and our students and teachers had an absolute blast. Thank you for your support in making it a success!
We are excited to welcome Ms. Annette Maclin to the Wynbrooke family as our sub-administrator. Ms. Maclin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, having recently retired as the principal of Pine Ridge Elementary School in June 2024. She will be supporting our school, and we are thrilled to have her on board!
As we enjoy the break, we encourage all our scholars to read, read, read for at least 20-30 minutes a day. This will help keep their minds active, boost comprehension, and improve Lexile scores!
We are just a few weeks away from the GA Milestones, and we invite you to join us for a Parent Session on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Please see the flyer in the Parent Resources section for more details.
Enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing you next week!
Proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Devetra Ushery
Wynbrooke Spotlight: Maximus' Inspiring Journey
At just six years old, our very own Wynbrooke scholar, Maximus, has embraced the role of advocate for children living with Type 1 diabetes. Diagnosed at age two, he has learned to manage his condition with strength and determination while raising awareness and funds for diabetes research. Each year, he even performs in a play he helped write, Sugar Babies, making it fun for kids to learn about insulin and ketones.
With the support of his family, care team, and the encouragement of those around him, Maximus continues to rise above the challenges of his condition. His positive spirit and perseverance inspire us all.
We invite you to read more about Maximus’ journey and join us in celebrating his resilience. We are honored to serve and support him and his family at Wynbrooke!

We Need Your Input: Take the Georgia School Climate Survey!
Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School will take the new Georgia School Climate Survey this year. Each parent or guardian is invited to take the family version to answer questions about the current school or schools you have a child or children attending. If two or more children attend the same school, please only complete one survey for that school.
The survey measures what you think about how the school engages with families. Answers are not linked to names in any way. When typing answers, please do not give names or information that you don’t want to share with this school. Data will be shared with school leaders to help improve the school and will be published on the GaDOE website.
Please help by sharing your honest opinion on this 22-question survey. To take the survey, please https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=DAA293DD
Read Across America Week
Please see the Read Across America Week Celebration. Students are invited to participate in each day's themed activities. If a scholar does not dress up for a specific day, they will need to wear their school uniform.
SIGN UP FOR CAREER DAY!
Wynbrooke Career Day
The Wynbrooke Traditional Theme School Career Day Committee, along with our esteemed Principal, Mrs. Ushery, extend a warm invitation to you for our Annual Career Day on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Career Week at Wynbrooke, celebrated from March 10 through March 14, promises to be an engaging and inspiring week for our students. Currently in the planning stages, we are dedicated to crafting various motivating, enriching, and rewarding activities throughout the week. This year's Career Day theme is "Be the Change."
The primary goal of Career Day is to expose our students to a diverse array of careers, provide them with insights into the professional world, and reinforce the importance of education in achieving their aspirations. Students will have the valuable opportunity to interact with professionals from various fields, gaining firsthand knowledge about different career paths and journeys.
We would be honored if you could join us for an appreciation continental breakfast and a brief program at 8:30 AM in our Media Center. This will be a delightful start to the day and a chance for networking and camaraderie.
Your expertise is highly valued, and we invite you to share your knowledge with our students by leading engaging sessions in 2-3 classes, each consisting of approximately 25 students. Your commitment to 30 minutes per class will significantly contribute to our student's understanding of different career paths. We are eager to share our excitement as we modify and enhance our Career Day plans. Your presence and participation would add immense value to this initiative, and we hope you can find time in your busy schedule to attend the breakfast and program.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact any of the committee members listed below. Your support and involvement are crucial as we collectively work towards educating and inspiring our students. Greetings Parents!
As we head into the February break, we encourage you to take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy some great books! Reading is a wonderful way to explore new worlds, spark creativity, and keep our minds engaged while we rest.
Students, we also invite you to log your reading on Beanstack throughout the break! Tracking your reading helps you stay motivated and allows you to see your progress over time. Plus, you may have the chance to earn badges and rewards along the way! Simply log in to your Beanstack account through Clever and record the books you read during the break.
Parents, you can support your child’s reading journey by setting aside time for independent or family reading, discussing books together, or visiting your local library.
Enjoy your break, and happy reading! We look forward to hearing about all the amazing books you discover!
Happy Reading,
Ms. Ashlee Jelks
