Heritage Happenings December 2025
February 2026
Dear Heritage Families,
February is here, and while winter is still hanging on (about six more weeks by the groundhog’s count!), our school is staying busy, learning, and finding ways to spread kindness throughout our community.
Service Projects Across Grade Levels
This month, each grade level will be participating in a service project. These projects are a great way for our students to practice empathy, teamwork, and responsibility while giving back. We’re excited to see our students making a positive impact and learning that even small acts of service can make a big difference.
Lost & Found Reminder
Our lost and found is overflowing with coats, hats, and gloves! Please take a moment to remind your child to check for missing items. We also strongly encourage families to label all winter clothing with your child’s name to help items find their way back home—especially during these colder months.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Even as winter lingers, our school community remains warm, connected, and focused on helping our students grow.
Warmest Regards,
Your Admin Team
Dr. Kimberley Walters, Val Sutton, Katie Will, & Melrick Bogier

Medications at School
As we approach the final months of the academic year, we would like to remind parents and guardians of the district’s policies regarding student medications.
In accordance with WSD Board Policy and Regulation 2780, written authorization from both a physician and a parent/guardian is required for all medications administered at school. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medications (such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, cough syrups, etc.) and applies to students in grades PK–12.
Students are not permitted to self-carry medications.* All medications must be delivered to the school by a parent/guardian or a responsible adult. Medications must be provided in the original, pharmacy-labeled container, including clear instructions for administration, and should not exceed a 30-day supply. Over-the-counter medications must also be received in their original packaging and will be administered only according to a physician’s written instructions.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe school environment. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Heather Sweeten at heathersweeten@wsdr4.org.
*Students with asthma, anaphylaxis, or other chronic health conditions may be permitted to self-carry and self-administer prescribed “rescue” medications, such as metered-dose inhalers. Authorization for self-administration (Form 2870) must be on file with the school nurse and resubmitted annually.
WSD Adjusts Schedule Starting in the 2026-27 School Year
WSD leaders are taking a step toward the District’s top strategic priority — improving academic achievement — by adjusting school schedules for the next school year. At the district level, monthly Late Start Mondays will be replaced with monthly All-District Early Release Wednesdays. At the middle and high (secondary) school level, in addition to the monthly All-District Early Release Wednesdays, the District will introduce weekly Secondary Early Release Wednesdays on full school weeks.
With these schedule changes approved by the Board of Education at the January Board meeting, the 2026-27 Academic Calendar is expected to be presented at the February Board meeting.
Pre-K Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year will begin in February
2026-27 PreK Enrollment Opens:
Feb. 9-13: Currently enrolled and returning Pre-K families and WSD employees.
Feb. 23: All Wentzville School District residents.
To enroll in our tuition-based preschool program, students must be 3 years old by July 31 of the year they are starting preschool.
In past years, families could choose their Early Childhood location. This year, your child’s Early Childhood site will be determined by your home address. Your address falls within an elementary school attendance boundary, and that boundary determines which Early Childhood location your child will attend. If you are unsure which elementary school serves your address, you can find it using the District’s interactive boundary map.
Early Childhood Locations by Elementary School Boundary:
Barfield: Boone Trail, Crossroads, Discovery Ridge, Duello, Green Tree, Prairie View
Samuelson: Heritage, Journey, Lake View, Peine Ridge, Stone Creek, Wabash
For more information or to register, please visit the District enrollment webpage.
