๐ค MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL VELA ๐ค
Happy Fall Break, Longhorn Families!
We have officially made it to Fall Break! I want to take a moment to thank all of our families for your continued support and partnership as we work together to make this a successful school year for our scholars. We have had a great start to October, and there are so many exciting things happening at IDEA Brackenridge!
๐ Fall Break | October 8โ12
Fall Break has officially begun! Our campus will be closed from Thursday, October 8, through Monday, October 12. Scholars will return to school on Tuesday, October 13. We hope all of our Longhorn families enjoy this extended break, get some much-needed rest, and spend quality time together!
๐ Report Card Pick-Up Night | October 20 | 3:00โ5:00 PM
We will host our Report Card Pick-Up Night on Tuesday, October 20, from 3:00โ5:00 PM. This is an important opportunity for families to receive their scholar's report card, celebrate academic progress, and connect with teachers about their scholar's performance.
IMPORTANT DISMISSAL REMINDER for Report Card Night: We will NOT have our normal dismissal procedures on this day. All parents and guardians will be required to park, come inside the building, pick up their scholar's report card, and pick up their scholar directly from the classroom.
For the safety of all scholars, parents must bring their dismissal placard or a valid photo ID to pick up their child. Please plan accordingly and allow additional time for this process. Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and organized dismissal!
๐๐ Longhorn Athletics Update!
What an incredible start to our athletics season! Our Longhorn athletes have represented IDEA Brackenridge with pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship!
- ๐ Flag Football: Our Longhorn Flag Football Team finished the regular season with an impressive 7โ2 record and has officially earned a spot in the playoffs! Congratulations to our players and coaches on an outstanding season! We will share playoff information as soon as it becomes available.
- ๐ Girls Volleyball: Our Lady Longhorns finished their regular season with a 4โ4 record! They are currently awaiting the results of other league games to determine whether they will qualify for the playoffs. We are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication!
We have had a very successful start to our sports year, and I could not be prouder of our student-athletes and coaches. Thank you to all of our families who have come out to support our teams. Go Longhorns!
๐จ๐ฑ Exciting News: After-School Clubs Are Coming!
We are excited to announce that we will soon begin offering additional opportunities for our scholars to get involved after school!
Our first two clubs will be:
- ๐จ Art Club: An opportunity for scholars to explore their creativity, express themselves, and develop their artistic talents!
- ๐ฑ Gardening Club: A hands-on opportunity for scholars to learn about plants, gardening, and caring for our environment!
Both clubs will be open to scholars in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. However, space will be limited, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sign-up information will be included in our School Counselor's Weekly Newsletter, so please be on the lookout! Additional details and registration information will be shared next week.
๐ฑ Stay Connected, Longhorn Families!
We have a lot of exciting events, activities, and opportunities coming up over the next several weeks! Please continue to stay connected by reading our Remind messages, weekly newsletters, and campus announcements so that you do not miss any important information.
As always, thank you for your continued trust, support, and partnership. Our success as a campus is only possible because of the commitment of our scholars, staff, and families working together. We are excited about the progress we are making and look forward to an even stronger second quarter!
On behalf of our entire IDEA Brackenridge team, I wish you and your family a safe, relaxing, and wonderful extended Fall Break! Enjoy the time with your loved ones, and we cannot wait to welcome our scholars back on Tuesday, October 13!

TITLE 1 ENGAGEMENT POLICIES
KEEP US ALL SAFE - SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
At IDEA Brackenridge, we uphold our safety and security to the highest standards. We rely on our students, staff, parents and community to notify us of any threats, warnings, concerning social media posts, bullying, and suspicious activity that could threaten our safety or security. We will not tolerate any statements, threats or jokes of harm or illegal activity on our campus.
Please reach out to our Administrators or Front Office to report your concerns or questions. We will take every concern seriously and follow up on every concern. We hope that during the 26-27 School Year, we will continue to build trust with our school family by being consistent, transparent, and honest in the work we do.
ALL THREATS OR ACTIONS OF HARM TO OTHERS IS REPORTED IN SENTINEL SCHOOL SAFETY SYSTEM.
In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), ยง37.1083, each school district and open-enrollment charter school is required to submit information requested by TEA in their efforts to monitor the implementation and operation of school district safety and security requirements. Sentinel will serve as the data reporting mechanism and repository for all safety and security-related data submitted by school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, campuses and other entities to TEA.
This means that any student making a threat or acting on a threat to harm others will be reported to Sentinel, which is a Texas wide TEA database. This also means that even if the student moves to another district in Texas, the reports will be accessible to the new school. All reports will be kept in this database until the student turns 24 years old.
For questions, information, or guidance related to this TAA, please contact the Office of School Safety and Security at SafeSchools@TEA.Texas.gov
