Planning for the Future of Fowlerville Schools
Fowlerville Community School's Master Planning and Bond Steering Committee continues its work to identify and prioritize facility and grounds needs across the district.
The committee brings together parents, community members, local business leaders, students, teachers, district staff and a Board of Education representative. Members bring perspectives from education, facilities, safety, athletics, recreation, and community life. The committee is also supported by professionals in architecture, construction and school finance.
Since September, members have toured district buildings and grounds, reviewed facility assessments, and discussed potential improvements to our schools. They've also helped identify community members to participate in focus panels. At the October 28 meeting, members learned more about school funding, bonds, sinking funds and the financial considerations involved in future improvements.
The committee is now working to identify priorities and evaluate options. No decisions have been made regarding specific projects or a possible May 2027 bond proposal. Thank you to our committee members for volunteering their time and helping us plan for the future of Fowlerville Community Schools!

Free School Meals Doesn't Mean This Form Isn't Important!
Did you know that completing one simple form can help bring thousands of dollars in additional funding to Fowlerville Community Schools?
Although breakfast and lunch are free for all students, the information collected through the Education Benefits Form is still extremely important.
For the 2026–27 school year, Michigan's current funding estimate provides approximately $2,000 for each student identified as economically disadvantaged. This funding helps support more than 30 district employees, in whole or in part, and helps us maintain important programs and services throughout our schools, including:
Building safety monitors
Reading and math intervention teachers
Academic tutors and classroom support staff
Math and literacy coaches
School social workers and student support services
Our school nurse
Summer learning and credit recovery programs
We're asking every family to take a few minutes to complete the 2026–27 Education Benefits Form, even if you're unsure whether your household qualifies. Only one form is needed per household, and all information is kept confidential. Completing the form will not affect your child's free breakfast or lunch.
You can complete the form electronically through the MiStar Parent Portal or download the 2026–27 Education Benefits Form and return it to your student's school. A few minutes of your time can make a meaningful difference in the resources available to our students.
Thank you for helping us make sure Fowlerville Community Schools receives the funding our students deserve!
FHS Students Share Life-Saving Skills with the Community
Four Fowlerville High School students brought life-saving skills to center court during girls volleyball Senior Night, demonstrating CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Their demonstration helped classmates and community members learn how to respond if someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest.
As participants in the CPR Ready Generation movement, these students are putting classroom learning into action while encouraging others to be prepared to help in an emergency. Their leadership and commitment to helping others reflect the Gladiator pride that extends beyond our classrooms and athletic fields.
Thank you to FHS CPR and First Aid instructor Mr. Rickens and Fowlerville Gladiator Athletics trainer Martha Munsell for supporting the students in this initiative. Their efforts were recently featured in a WILX News 10 story. Congratulations to these Gladiators for sharing their knowledge and making a difference in our community!
Understanding How We Use i-Ready Math
How does math instruction look in our classrooms? This video provides a closer look at how Fowlerville Community Schools uses i-Ready Classroom Mathematics to support student learning in grades K–8. You’ll learn how students build a strong foundation through hands-on activities, whole-class instruction, meaningful discussions, and problem-solving. We’ll also explain how digital practice through MyPath is used purposefully to support individual student growth while keeping the focus on meaningful, hands-on math instruction.
We invite all families to join us for one of our upcoming Math Nights! These events are a great opportunity to learn more about our math curriculum, explore the resources students use, and discover ways to support your child’s math learning at home.
- Junior High Math Night: November 10th, 5:30–6:15 PM at the Junior High.
- K–5 Math Night: November 11th, 5:00–5:45 PM in the Fowlerville Elementary School cafeteria.
We look forward to connecting with our families and sharing how we are helping every student build confidence, develop a strong understanding of math, and become a capable problem-solver!
November is Homeless Awareness Month
In recognition of Homeless Awareness Month, the Livingston County Homeless Continuum of Care of the Human Services Collaborative Body presents a calendar of events and activities aimed to reduce the stigma of individuals experiencing homelessness. Each November, the committee works to host events to foster connection, educate and encourage conversations around homelessness.
There are a variety of local events you can support such as:
November 4, 2026: Student Art Show: “Where the Street Ends and Your Story Begins” from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Livingston Educational Service Agency in Howell. Browse student art work for free and support individuals experiencing homelessness by purchasing raffle tickets to win 1 of 9 incredible baskets. Cash only.
November 15, 2026: Join us at the Howell Carnegie Library from 4:00pm - 5:30pm for a book discussion on “When We Walk By”, a book that provides an engaging analysis of homelessness in America. Registration required.
November 19, 2026: Help to raise dough for the Barrier Buster Fund at Panera Bread in Howell from 4:00pm - 8:00pm or order online all day where 25% of the bill will support individuals experiencing homelessness. Flyer or coupon code required.
November 20, 2026: Make your morning meal matter from 7:00am - 3:00pm where a portion of the proceeds from Sunrise Diner will benefit the Barrier Buster Fund which assists individuals experiencing homelessness.
Throughout the month of November: Our local libraries will have displays up all month long to showcase resources, books, and movies related to homeless awareness.
Keeping Attendance on Track During a Busy Season
November and December can be busy months. Between changing schedules, holiday activities, winter weather and the excitement of an upcoming break, normal routines can become harder to maintain. We have now been in school for 49 days, so if your student has 5 or more absences, please reach out to your school's office so we can work together to avoid additional future absences.
Whenever possible, keeping school-day routines consistent can help. Try maintaining regular bedtimes on school nights, preparing for the morning the night before and scheduling trips and other activities around the school calendar.
Of course, winter is also cold and flu season. Students should stay home when they are ill and need time to recover. When they are healthy and ready to return, getting back to school quickly helps them reconnect with their classmates and learning.
There are plenty of important learning experiences happening right up until break begins. Let’s make those days count.
Junior High Pick Up and Drop Off Reminder
We wanted to remind families that students at Fowlerville Junior High need to be dropped off and picked up in the Circle Drive at Door 11 or the south parking lot at Door 14. Doors to the building open at 7am each day and students are expected to be picked up or out of the building by 2:30pm unless with a teacher, coach, or under the direct supervision of a school employee or designee. Students with late practices or wanting to watch sporting events starting later must make arrangements to go elsewhere between school and practice or games.
Little Glad Early Childhood Center Updates
Little Glad Early Childhood Center has some reminders about the Thanksgiving Food Drive and upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Thanksgiving Food Drive: Little Glad Early Childhood will be hosting a food drive for the Fowlerville Family Impact Center from November 1–18, 2026! Your child should have brought home a list of the items most needed, or you can visit the Family Impact Center website for additional information. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about kindness, giving back, and supporting the community we are so thankful to be a part of!
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on November 13, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate their progress, discuss next steps for growth, and share important information about your child’s development. We value the partnership we share with our families and look forward to these meaningful conversations!
Please note: There will be no school for our GSRP students on November 13 due to parent-teacher conferences.
What's Happening at The Alverson?
The Fowlerville High School Drama Club will be hosting auditions on November 11 and 12 after school for the spring production of The Play That Goes Wrong (High School Edition). Students are encouraged to come prepared with a comedic monologue (approximately 60-90 seconds), however, some will also be set aside for those who are new and might not know how to do that yet. The production will take place in early March 2027.
Other upcoming events at the Alverson Center for Performing Arts include:
- November 10 at 6:00 PM - Fowlerville High School Oscars
- November 20 (7:00 PM), 21 (2:00 PM) and 22 (2:00 PM) - Fowlerville Community Theatre presents Mary Poppins
