Cardinal Connect
Week of September 5 - 8
Principal's Message
What a great first couple of days of school we have had! From the excitement of seeing friends again after summer break and reconnecting with teachers and staff, an amazing welcome back assembly and BBQ, as well as the anticipation of new courses, new learnings, and new friendships, SAB is abuzz with positivity!
A special thank you to our students and parents for your patience as we navigate the start of our school year, with its unique scheduling and enrolment challenges. Specifically, at the grade 10 and 12 level, some student schedules have had to be adjusted to manage class sizes and other conflicts. Students whose schedules necessitated a course change have been notified by email. We continue to work hard at modifying and improving student schedules, including course change requests, in these first few days of school.
Truly, we are blessed to not only have the gift of Catholic education, but to have such a dedicated, faith filled, and caring staff. This year is going to truly be a great one! #GLOWEICS
Labour Day Blessings,
Scott Walker
Principal

Taking Online Courses at SAB
Our only online service provider is St. Isidore Learning Centre (SILC). Their course catalogue can be found at: https://www.canva.com/design/DAE4pNcj5Hg/pcRlA-dtfkQg7D3RpD1BEQ/view
All online course requests must go through Mr. Walker by arranging to see him in person to discuss - this can be done beginning the first full week of school.
SAB students may be permitted to take online courses only if the following conditions are met:
A required* course does not fit into your schedule due to course conflicts.**
SAB does not offer the course, but SILC does (an elective).
A student has spares to fill that cannot be filled with SAB in person courses.
Students can register for courses through SILC from September through March in any given school year (times subject to change).
Generally speaking, students can only take one course through SILC and are expected to complete the course in the semester in which they are enrolled.
*Required courses include: core subjects, Religion at each grade level, Phys Ed 10, CALM 20, or a course needed for graduation requirements.
**In scheduling, priorities will always be given to required courses over options, electives, complementary courses, etc.
