Dear CMIT South Elementary Families,
As we embrace Autism Acceptance Month, I am reminded of the inspiring words of Paralympic gold medalist Breanna Clark, who once said, "Having autism doesn't mean I can't achieve my dreams. It just means I might take a different path to get there." Her determination reminds us that with support and opportunity, every child can reach their full potential.

The activity helped the students visually understand how the moon changes shape throughout its cycle, combining creativity and learning to make the concept more engaging and interactive.
Technology:
This month is Ask Mr. Morton anything April! I hope this solves all unanswered questions in and about Technology class. We are also doing a Digital Citizenship project and playing technology vocabulary games!
P.E.:
This week in K-2, locomotion skills were all the rage! Why locomotor skills? Here are some important reasons why children need them according to experts:
1. Physical Fitness
Locomotor skills help children develop strength, coordination, balance, and endurance, promoting overall physical fitness and health. Engaging in physical activity from a young age lays the groundwork for lifelong habits of exercise and healthy living.
2. Motor Development
Locomotor skills contribute to the development of gross motor skills, which are essential for performing everyday tasks and activities, such as walking, running, climbing, and playing sports. Mastering these skills enhances children's physical abilities and confidence in their movements.
3. Cognitive Development
Learning and mastering locomotor skills require cognitive processes such as planning, problem-solving, and spatial awareness. Engaging in physical activity stimulates brain development, improves cognitive function, and enhances learning and academic performance.
4. Social and Emotional Development
Participating in physical activities and sports also helps children develop social skills such as cooperation, communication, and teamwork. By interacting with peers and working towards common goals, children learn important values such as sportsmanship, resilience, and empathy.

KVS
KVS is our school's dismissal tool for car riders. All parents MUST fill out their KVS number when picking up their scholar. It is imperative that numbers are entered once you reach the car line. If your scholar is a car rider, please take time to help him or her practice memorizing his or her number as this will make the dismissal process much quicker!
Important Forms to Complete
We are going digital!!! Don't forget to complete your Emergency Contact and Pick List, Student Publicity Release Form, and Parent Compact form for each of your scholars.
