A Message from the Williston Schools Leadership Team
by Angela Filion, Allen Brook School Principal
What a joyful day at Allen Brook School! Today we marked our 100th Day of School, and the building was buzzing with creativity, counting, and a whole lot of pride. Students traveled to buddy classrooms to design their very own 100th Day crowns, decorated with drawings, and of course, plenty of “100s.” Watching our older and younger learners work side-by-side was one of those heart-squeezing reminders that school is about community as much as it is about math and reading.
The celebration continued with a schoolwide assembly where roughly 320 crown-wearing superstars gathered together. We counted, cheered, and reflected on all the ways to be a great friend. Smiles and joy filled our gymnasium today!
I also want to share some exciting news for the future of ABS. This week a small group of parents and I met to begin forming a Playground Fundraising Committee with the goal of creating a new, inclusive playground for our students by 2027. The conversation was full of big ideas and great enthusiasm. More information will be coming soon about how families can get involved!
Thank you for sending us such wonderful children and for being partners in all that we do. Here’s to the next 100 days of curiosity, laughter, and learning!
With gratitude,
Angela
Learn More: Proposed FY27 CVSD Budget & Voting Information
On January 20, the CVSD School Board approved a $107.9M FY27 budget to support and operate the district. Voters will consider this budget on Town Meeting Day—Tuesday, March 3, 2026. You can also vote or absentee beginning Wednesday, Feb. 11, by requesting a ballot online at sos.vermont.gov/elections.
The proposed $107.9M budget carries forward the current year's level of services and programming into the 2026-27 school year, recognizing that further cuts to programs would affect the core mission of the district.
Learn more about the budget at www.cvsdvt.org/budget and at the upcoming informational meeting:

A Message from the Health Office
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This letter is to inform you that we are seeing a lot of cases of Flu B at Williston Central School. We are sending home a large number of children experiencing flu-like symptoms and this letter is meant to notify you and provide guidance on how to help your child and others stay healthy.
We are asking you to please keep your child home from school if they are not feeling well.
The flu is a highly contagious respiratory disease that usually affects people during the winter and spring months. It is spread person-to-person by coughing and sneezing, or by touching contaminated surfaces. It can be spread before a person even shows symptoms.
Symptoms of the flu that we currently see: fever (sometimes only low grade), headache, neck pain, chills, body/muscle aches, dry cough, and sore throat. A person may also experience nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, but those symptoms alone without any respiratory symptoms are often caused by another disease.
The flu can be treated with antivirals which are prescribed by a doctor. Antiviral medication has to be started within 24-48 hours of the first symptoms in order to be effective.
Stay well and let the Health Office know if you have any questions.

CVSD Intra-District K-8 School Choice:
Children entering grades preK-8 who live in the towns of Charlotte, Hinesburg, Shelburne, St. George and Williston may exercise school choice. Our goal is to both allow options for families and also make balanced class sizes to provide a positive learning environment for all of our children. Processes for intra-district choice of school will be guided by the needs of students, space availability, and existing resources. Given this, we will work to meet as many families’ needs as possible. Guidelines and Application

Hill Closings
In the event that weather and/or road conditions make it unsafe for our buses to travel hill roads, we will notify parents and/or caregivers of students on those routes with as much notice as possible.
When hills are closed for afternoon bus runs, if no one arrives to meet younger students, they will be brought back to school until arrangements are made for them to be picked up. Please talk with your bus drivers to let them know if you are comfortable letting your child walk home from the drop off location.
We will use the automated SchoolMessenger system to notify families on the hill roads.
