Greatness On The Horizon - Live The Mission
A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal
Greetings Ravens! “It’s the first day of autumn! A time of hot chocolatey mornings, and toasty marshmallow evenings, and, best of all, leaping into leaves!” — Winnie the Pooh
Thank you for week 8!! I appreciate all the parents that joined us for Coffee with The Principal. Lots of information and learning together. This last week, we also continued with parent/teacher/student conferences to review progress and add supports. We also held our first ever Raven of The Month for 6th Grade. What a special event celebrating character!! Thank you counselors, teachers and parents for making it memorable and special for our Scholars. They deserve the recognition and support. We want to ensure that all of our scholars are successful and together, we will ensure that our scholars have every opportunity to reach greatness.
We will continue this week with Power Hour (formally known as tutoring). Our teachers are communicating with our students and parents. Everyone is invited and I am pleased to invite everyone for Fall Intersession. Please have your child join us from 8am-12pm Monday-Thursday, October 2-5. There will be daily raffles, dress up days, and treats for our Raven Scholars. Our teachers are working diligently to make it fun and purposeful. Hope to see everyone attend. Please let us know how we can help.
Shoutout to our 7th Grade Raven Boys' Soccer Team for their undefeated season and for bringing home our very first Championship this weekend!! Way to set the tone for years to come! Excited to display our first trophy, first of many more to come!! 8th Grade Boys Soccer also won their game against Hambric this weekend and finished in 3rd place for Division A. Wednesday, we have our last baseball and softball games. 7th Grade Baseball and our Softball teams also have an undefeated season. Excited for them all!!
Some Reminders:
Attendance: Let's make sure our Ravens are in school every day, all day. Our goal for this school year is 97% school-wide. Current Attendance Overall: 96.30%. We are in 4th place districtwide. I know we can get to 1st place. Beginning next 9 weeks, grade level with highest attendance for the week will earn free the the following Monday. Winning grade level will be announced the Friday before. Thank you all for your support. Go Ravens!!
After School Academic Power Hour: All of our Ravens are invited to participate in acceleration, intervention and enrichment. After school transportation will be provided. There is greatness on the horizon for our Ravens!!
Bus Riders: It is very important for scholars riding the bus to have an ID. They must scan upon boarding and exiting and tracked through Ride 360. Please have your child stop by the library for a new card. First ID is free, replacements are $5. Riding the bus is a privilege. Speak to your child about proper behavior in the bus. They don't want to loose the privilege of riding the bus.
Football Middle School Night: Thursday, September 28th at 7pm at the SAC. Coach Griffith will be coordinating for our football players to join our Eastlake High School Falcons for football night under the lights. Players will have the opportunity to enter the game through the tunnel, be on the sideline during pregame warmup and run out of the tunnel prior to the start of the game vs Socorro HS.
Hispanic Heritage Month: In September of 1968, congress authorized National Hispanic Heritage Week to be observed during the week of September 15. In 1989, it was expanded to a monthlong celebration (Sept. 15-Oct. 15). The significance in the dates is in the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Plus Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18., respectively. - Census.Gov/Schools
Intersession School: Mark your calendars. Intersession school is October 2-5 and all are invited to attend.
School Dances: School dances are a privilege. Students with excessive absences, failing grades or any discipline referral will not be allowed to attend. Every 9 weeks is a new opportunity to reset do things better. Our first school dance will be September 29, 2023. Tickets go on sale Monday, 9/25/23 for $4.
Arriving On Time and Classroom Transitions: Thank you parents for getting your children to school on time. First bell rings at 7:45am and our tardy bell rings at 8:00am. We also want to ensure that students transition between classes on time. Please note, students not arriving to school on time or during transitions will begin serving lunch detention. Three or more tardies a week can result in a discipline referral. Please encourage your child to get to their classes on time.
Capturing Kid's Hearts: Please read attached newsletter for our September Theme: Empathy on CKH and find ways you can help support and teach Empathy at home.

Would you like to be a Parent Volunteer?
Are you interested in becoming a volunteer? While we are still finalizing our date for the informational meeting, you can complete your district background check now through this link. https://my.sisd.net/public_apps/dps-cch-public/#!/home/
Background checks must be done yearly with them being valid from July 1 to June 30 of the current school year. You will need to be cleared by the district and attend one of our orientations. The orientations will allow you to learn about the process of coming into the campus and the various opportunities available. More information about these orientations will be shared once finalized.
We would love to have your help!
Wait, don't 🍁 yet! We still have to get our groove on...
