FCMS EXPRESS
Week of April 14, 2025
From Mr. Liggett
FCMS Family,
With only one month away to the end of the school year, our activities continue to increase while our expectations do the same. With the weather now on our side and students begin to look towards outdoor activities, it is important that we focus on our expectations within the classroom. That being said, we want to continue to stress the importance of maintaining our effort towards work completion to the best of our abilities. One of the strong points of our teachers is that they are very caring and want students to succeed. Please make sure that you continue to be proactive when it comes to communicating with your child as well as with their teachers.

Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Nobbe: Kindness is Key
Mrs. Nobbe a Special Education teacher at FCMS, as well as the middle school cross country coach, was nominated for this week’s Staff Spotlight.
Mrs. Nobbe attended both Ball State and IUE where she decided to get three degrees: a minor in elementary education, a masters in education, and a masters in special education. She has been teaching 25 years in total, with 16 at Laurel and 9 at FCMS. She enjoys learning from her students and, according to her, she sees all children as honest, creative, and inspiring.
Mrs. Nobbe however is more than just being a teacher. She has shared that if she wasn’t a teacher she would be a health and wellness coach. Which makes sense considering her hobbies of hiking, running, and any other exercise she can do. Not only does she enjoy running she also enjoys coaching others to run as the FCMS cross country coach. Not only that but she has visited quite a few places including the legendary and historical Pearl Harbor to visit her
son who was deployed there at the time. Other than historical sites she used to go camping with her kids when they were younger in North Carolina.
Mrs. Nobbe is both a phenomenal person and teacher and FCMS is lucky to have her as part of the staff.

Congratulations to Austin Lance for receiving a 6th grade shout-out from a classmate. THis student complimented Austin on always being kind and not interrupting others when they are speaking.
Also, congratulations to Jayden Conn for receiving Mrs. Ariens' "ELA Rockstar of the Week" award. Jayden is a hard worker who always makes sure she completes her assignments. Her beautiful smile brightens up our classroom, and she is always an example of kindness and compassion.
Mrs. Ariens’ Language Lab students enjoyed an extra recess for achieving the highest “Fast and Curious “ score among 6th grade Reading classes for the week of April 7. The weather was ideal, and it was the perfect end to our week!

Parents of D.C. Students:
In the upcoming few weeks, we will be starting three possible fundraisers. You may participate in all of them or none of them. It is up to you.
First, if anyone would like to sell beef sticks, order forms were sent home earlier this week. Have the order forms and money returned back by April 18.
Second, we will be doing a donation drawing (raffle). In order to participate, you must donate an item--around $25 worth. You may get this item by asking a business in the community; finding a person to donate an item who sells something or makes something; purchase a gift card, etc. This fundraiser can bring in lots of money for the trip. After we have all the donations, you will sell tickets. The tickets you sell and turn in to me will be 100% profit. (I made the tickets myself and printed them. They are not fancy; no donations are listed on them.) The timeline for this fundraiser is as follows: Today, start finding donations; the donations are due by April 18; when you turn in the donations, I will give you 100 tickets to sell. (The earlier you turn in the donation, the longer you will have to sell the tickets. If you sell 98 tickets, bring those back in and I will give more. Tickets are due by April 25. We will do the drawing the beginning of the next week--April 28 or 29. All of this information was sent home with your child last week.
Third, I will be doing a fundraiser for the end-of-the-year King's Island trip by selling popcorn. The D.C. students may participate in this fundraiser for funds for the D.C. trip or for the King's Island trip. You just have to tell me which one the profit is to be used to fund. This will start right after the donation drawing--beginning of May.
