School Counselors Amplify Student Success
February 2-6, 2026
A Message from the School Counselor
It’s National School Counseling Week! The role of the school counselor is to design and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that aims to improve student outcomes. As a school counselor, it is my responsibility to lead, advocate, and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by aligning the school's mission, vision, and annual improvement plan to the comprehensive school counseling program. By upholding the ethical and professional standards of ASCA and the state of Alabama, I promote the development of the school counseling program aligned to the ASCA National Model to ensure that all students have access to the interventions, skills, and standards needed to promote the development of successful students and individuals, lifelong learners, and productive citizens of society.
Throughout this week, I will spotlight the field of school counseling and the meaningful work I have the privilege of doing each day. Thank you for being school counseling allies and for allowing my practice as a Professional School Counselor to be demonstrated through our shared collaboration and advocacy for students. It is truly a pleasure to serve the students, faculty, staff, and the Tuscaloosa community as the school counselor of Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools–Middle.
Sincerely,
LaTiffany Tabb, NBCT
