The inaugural season of the Girls Monarch Flag Football team is off to a great start!

Volleyball Has Best Start to the Season Since 2014!
Monarch’s volleyball teams swept Fairview last Thursday, winning at all levels. The varsity team is now 7-2, which is their best record at this point in the season since 2014! The Coyotes’ Middle Blockers, Ava Maliawco (12) and Mia Reiley (10), led the offense, with an impressive 8 kills each, while Libero Maya Singh (11) made 2 crucial digs at the end of the 2nd set to propel the Coyotes to victory in that set. Setter Eva Becht (12) added 5 serving aces in 3 sets. Final score: Monarch 3, Fairview 0.
This week, the teams take on Broomfield at home on Tuesday, and the girls would love to fill the bleachers! The C/D teams play at 4:30, JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 6:30.
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 14—it’s our annual Pink Out game to support JWill Pink Village, and there will be a Booster Club tailgate. More details to come!
Boys Soccer Battles Through Rivalry Week
Varsity
Thursday’s matchup against a strong Centaurus squad was a battle. After falling behind early, Logan Slu broke out on a counter and found Zach G, who calmly slotted home the equalizer. We thought we had taken the lead when Logan buried a shot, but it was called back for offside. Late in the game Centaurus grabbed a scrappy goal to edge the win, despite our strong effort.
JV
JV bounced back from a tough week with a gritty performance against Centaurus, who came in 5-1-1. Both teams fought hard, and the game ended in a well-earned 0-0 tie. We’ll focus on quick passing, shooting, and sprints in practice as we prepare for our lone game this week—Friday night at home vs. Mead. Come out and cheer us on!
C Team
C Team had two big games this week. Against Centaurus, we stormed back from a 2-0 deficit, with goals from Aiden L, Jace M, and Aaron A leveling the score at 3-3 after an incredible second-half push. On Saturday at Kent Denver, Sawyer S delivered a stunning 30-yard volley and later converted a penalty to secure a 2-2 draw. A strong showing in both matches has the team hungry to keep building momentum.
Monarch 18U Rugby – Tough Day on the Pitch
It was a challenging outing for the 18U squad. They opened with a hard-fought 12–7 win over PAC but struggled to find rhythm in their next matches, falling 0–43 to East and 5–21 to the Hammers. Despite flashes of grit, the team couldn’t quite come together as a unit. They’ll be looking to regroup and bounce back stronger next week.
Monarch 16U Rugby – Still Undefeated!
The 16U squad kept their perfect season rolling with three strong wins: 27–0 over East/Valor, 26–5 against the Hammers, and 24–7 versus the Titans. The team showed outstanding communication, quick offloads, and unshakable teamwork throughout the day. With an undefeated record on the line, they head to Evergreen next week ready to keep the streak alive!
Monarch’s MTB co-ed team raced to 2nd place in the Haymaker Classic. Haylee Jo Jackson defended her first place position for the third race in a row. She remains the points leader.
Joining her on the podium is Ava Patrick with a second place finish, and Nathan Riemer in fifth place. Ava Patrick was also awarded the slingshot award for the largest improvement in individual standing. Congrats to all our riders on a terrific race.

Last week Monarch Varsity took home second place in the Granite Peaks League tournament out of 14 teams. Isaac Anderson took second as Singles 1, Ajay Chandran took second at Singles 2, Troy Games took first as Singles 3. Ethan Jeffries and Logan Zawistowski took second as well at Doubles 4. Excellent job gentlemen!
Congrats to the JV boys who played in the Lakewood tournament on September 20. Monarch took second place behind Evergreen HS. The matches were so close it came down to number of sets won, and we were only 1 set away from Evergreen. Everyone played extremely well. Lots of close tiebreakers, long rallies and good put away volleys. Great work team!

Goalie Julien Vachon had 16 saves on 18 shots. Jacob Juenemann, Luke Rosenberg, Austin Pugh and Isaac Huang had goals vs Cheyenne Mountain. Goalie Aiden LeJeune had 34 saves on 36 shots.
The Gold Team went 1-1 for the weekend with a win against Cheyenne Mountain and a loss vs Denver East. Joe Lowery. All 3 teams will be participating in the Rocky Mountain Regional Silversticks Tournament this weekend.
We are 2 months in and 20+ tournaments into the season. As bittersweet as it all may be, all good things must come to an end… This week was the last official week for the entirety of our squad
It was an active week for the squad as we got everyone out on the course (mother nature did step in at points and disrupt things, but that is fall golf in Colorado).
It started Monday Developmental Team playing at Thorncreek. The boys proved that they are waiting in the wings and have taken to heart the guidance and coaching of Coach Jones and Coach Wright. The future is bright for Monarch golf as they will soon be big time contributors to our program. Shout out to their 3rd place finish and solid play (sadly the weather moved in before everyone could finish to make it official, but we are excited to see their continued development)!
We also had a group out at Eagle Trace on Monday (fortunately they were able to finish their round before the weather made itself known). Shout out to Arno Bergstrom for leading the pack and for his PR in shooting a 76!
Tuesday we tried to battle the wet and cold conditions up at Twin Peaks, but ultimately the weather was too much and the tournament was called off half way through…
We got back at it Wednesday with the State Team sharpening their skills at Walnut Creek in a Quad Invite with Fairview, Broomfield, and Arvada West. Bode Truman and Grady Decola led the way with a respectable 76 and 78.
The highlight of the week came on Thursday with the final League Match of the Granite Peaks League (as it is currently constructed - 14 teams). After leading all season in league standings we found ourselves in 3rd place behind Fairview and Erie after the match at Flatirons. Fortunately the boys felt right at home at the aptly named Coyote Creek Golf Course. When all was said and done we finished the day the way we started the season with a sizable win! Props to Bode Truman and Jake Bradley for the (-1) finishes, close behind them were Solomon Jones (+2), Rhys Ayandele (+3), Grady Decola (+5) and Jacob Lynn with his PR of a 77. Although we won the tournament and passed Fairview in League play we fell 3 shots behind Erie for the Granite Peak League title. Valiant effort nonetheless!
Special note: Bode Truman was the runner up for Granite Peak League Player of the Year making the All Conference Team! Joining him in All Conference platitudes was Jake Bradley (with Rhys, Grady, and Solomon not far behind)!
Throughout the season we have been building towards peaking at the right time and fielding a competitive squad for the State Tournament. This season has been unique in the fact that it is the inaugural year of Iwannamaker Rankings (top 84 - based on season long play) determining who will go to represent the Coyotes rather than a Regional Championship. Each team is permitted to take their top 4 players and we have our four… With that being said, the final rankings speak to our “depth” and overall competitiveness as we had 6 members of our team within that top 84. Bode Truman (12th), Rhys Ayandele (23rd), Jake Bradley(26th), Grady Decola (35th), Solomon Jones (37th), and Dobi Argirov (73th) - Arno Bergstrom (barely missing at 89th).
Our State Championship competitors will be Sophomore Bode Truman, Junior Rhys Ayandele, Junior Jake Bradley, and Sophomore Grady Decola (with Sophomore Solomon Jones, being the first alternate if needed). We are confident that these four will represent our pack in a very strong fashion! They’ll stay on their grind throughout the next week as they prepare for the showdown of 4A’s best golfers at Fox Hill on October 6th and 7th. SKO YOTES!
