MUMS Family Newsletter
September 8th, 2023
We hope that you are doing okay, navigating the extreme heat that we are experiencing this week. Students and staff alike have done a tremendous job remaining as focused as possible during this last week despite the conditions. Next week appears to be cooler and we are all looking forward to that!
This week we started to see students really live their schedules and become more comfortable with the building and navigating it. I continue to be impressed by our open-minded students who are new to the building and our caring students who are familiar to it. The community that is being built every day is admirable.
Please ask your child about our "Team assemblies" from last week which allowed for some team building and review of our school-wide expectations which I see students following every day.
If you have questions, please reach out to us at mwisell@acsdvt.org (Michaela)
or zjerome@acsdvt.org (Zach) or by calling the MUMS office at 802-382-1600 or by visiting the MUMS website for more information.

From our MYP Coordinators
Hello! Welcome to new families and guardians! This newsletter gives us a chance to tell you a little bit about IB and what it looks like at MUMS.
Sometimes it will be a peek into a classroom, and other times it might be explaining some aspect of IB. Today, it is to let you know that MUMS will not be using ManageBac this year. We heard you when you said that it was not parent friendly! You will now be seeing the 0-8 assessment scores in PowerSchool instead of ManageBac. We are hoping this will be more user friendly for everyone! Stay tuned for more information! You should have received an email from Megan Curran in guidance about how to set up your parent account if you do not have one already. If you need support, please reach out to mcurran@acsdvt.org.
We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night later this month!
Have a great weekend,
Pam Quinn and Eileen Sears, MYP Coordinators
Panorama Survey Information
Panorama Parent Information and Opt Out
As parents, teachers, and caregivers, we know that social emotional learning (SEL) is crucial for our students’ success in school and in life. To support this learning, we first need to understand how students are doing. Last year, a group of teachers and administrators identified research-backed SEL measurement tools and selected the Panorama surveys. This year, we will again be using Panorama as a tool. The survey will be given a total of three times (fall, winter, spring), and it takes students about 10-15 minutes to complete. We will use the data we collect to reflect on student learning and strengthen our programs and instruction to help all students succeed.
In the next month, we will provide a survey to our K-12 students. Students in 3rd-12th grades will self-reflect on skills related to self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness. For grades K-2, teachers will complete a much shorter survey on the same topics about each student in their class. We ask that all students participate, because their feedback will provide valuable insights to help us improve and adapt our district to support all students.
Please notify us if you wish to opt your child out of taking the survey by emailing mcurran@acsdvt.org with your child’s name, grade, and class by September 15, 2023.
Thank you in advance for supporting this important work. If you have any questions please contact your school principal or Courtney Krahn, Director of Teaching and Learning (ckrahn@acsdvt.org; 820-382-1276).
