Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Teacher Shout-Out: I want to take a minute to highlight two of our teachers who have gone above and beyond to assist our students during a time of need in our community. A special thank you to Ms. Toler and Ms. Evans who have taken on additional classes in order to ensure that Ms. Perry's 8th grade math students receive the support and instruction that they need. We continue to keep Ms. Perry in our thoughts during her leave of absence and we look forward to the day she can return to RCMS.
Device Reminders: Next, I need to take a minute to ask for your cooperation in caring for our school-issued devices. We appreciate your role in supporting your child’s education and fostering a partnership that contributes to their success. At Ridgeview, we are committed to providing students with the tools they need to excel academically, including their school-issued devices. To ensure these devices remain in good condition for learning, we kindly request your support in reinforcing proper care and responsibility.
Please review the following guidelines and policies regarding device care and the handling of damages:
Report any Damages or Loss Immediately: If a student loses a device off campus, or if a device is damaged at any time, the student should report it immediately to the Device Coordinator, Mr. Bosarge in the Media Center, OR to the School Tech Specialist, Mr. VanWagner, during his office hours (all student lunch periods).
Always Use the Carrying Case: Devices must be stored in their designated carrying cases at all times to prevent damage during transport. Carrying cases are provided by the school; please ensure they are used consistently.
Avoid Carrying the Device with the Screen Open: To prevent unnecessary stress on the hinges and reduce the risk of accidents, devices should always be closed when being carried.
Remove Accessories Before Packing: Chargers, headphones, and other accessories should be unplugged and removed from the device before closing the case. (Pencils and pens should not be stored in the device compartment.)
Charge Devices Responsibly: Ensure devices are charged overnight to avoid using chargers in high-traffic areas during the day, which could lead to accidents.
Accidents Are Not Exemptions: While we understand that accidents happen, they do not exempt students from taking responsibility for the care of their device or from the payment of the fine.
Avoid Unsafe Storage: Devices should never be left in unsafe locations such as the floor, lunchroom, or other high-risk areas. Damage caused by improper storage is the student's responsibility.
Fine Payment Before Replacement: If a device is broken or damaged, a fine will be assessed. Unfortunately, we cannot issue a replacement device until the fine is paid in full. Fines can be paid using this payment link. All outstanding fines must be paid by February 28th to avoid device restrictions.
We encourage you to discuss these guidelines with your child to help them understand the importance of taking care of their school-issued device. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students' education and responsibility.
Sincerely,
Thomas Garrett, Principal

Building Parent Capacity
Starting high school is an exciting event in a child’s life, but it can also be a daunting transition. Unlike the move from one middle school grade to the next, this transition can mean a whole new school building, new teachers, new classmates, and notably more challenging material. We’re here to help with the transition from middle school to high school with tips for students and their parents. Here is an article with more information:
