Sunnyvale ISD E-News
Author and 2025 SISD graduate, Savannah Bryan, visited the Sunnyvale Elementary School library this week to share her children’s book, How Rowdy Became a Raider, with elementary students. Through her reading, Savannah encouraged students to embrace honesty, positivity, helpfulness, and kindness: all core qualities of the SISD Raider spirit.
Savannah wrote and published this book as part of her senior project last school year. Her mother and SES teacher Mrs. Courtney Bryan was able to join Savannah for this memorable event!
SHS Raiders experienced an immersive start to the first week of school. On just the second day of class, Coach Jones’s AP Human Geography students dove into a hands-on challenge that put their spatial skills to the test. Working in teams, students assembled a giant world map spread across 136 pages and laid out on the classroom floor.
The competition was fierce, with the best overall time across all four classes coming in at an impressive 21 minutes and 30 seconds. The activity gave students the opportunity to strengthen important skills, including teamwork, problem-solving, and spatial awareness, all while reinforcing their knowledge of global geography in a fun and engaging way.
Sunnyvale Intermediate School kicked off the year with its annual First Friday Starbooks Event!
Teachers brewed up engaging lessons with a coffee theme.
Some of the day's activities included:
ELA students enjoyed a “book café.”
Math classes measured with precision.
Science classes tested which container held the most heat.
What a creative and energizing way to start the school year!
