Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 30th January 2026
Year 4 Young Archaeologists!
A Visit to York
On Tuesday, Year 4 had a fabulous visit to Jorvik and the Dig. The day started with a battle tactics worship and look at different weapons used in battle between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons. Then, the children learnt more about the role of an archaeologist's before having a go at finding evidence at the Dig. In the afternoon, the children enjoyed a ride around the Jorvik centre, where they were transported back in time to a Viking village!
Year 2 Worship
Year 2 treated us to a wonderful class worship this week; they helped us to think about what courage really means through confidently retelling the story of Daniel in the Lions’ Den. They explained how being brave does not always mean feeling fearless but choosing to do the right thing even when we feel worried or unsure. Year 2 also shared thoughtful ideas about how we can overcome our fears and anxieties, such as talking to others, imagining things going well, and remembering that we are not alone. Well done Year 2!
Stars of the Week!
Well done to this week's Stars of the Week who were presented with their certificates in Celebration Worship this morning!
Nursery – Freddie, for being kind and thoughtful to everyone in Nursery, and always making the right choices.
Reception – Percy, for his fantastic attitude to learning, showing engagement and lots of focus during all of our carpet sessions.
Year 1 –Monty, for showing amazing perseverance and resilience in gymnastics. Monty has been a fantastic role model to others, confidently demonstrating positions such as pike, straddle and dish. He's also worked especially hard with his forward rolls!

Year 4 – George Ga, for representing our class and school during our trip to Jorvik and the Dig, sharing his learning and knowledge with confidence.
Year 5 – Lottie, for always being on task, always doing the right thing and being an excellent positive role mode to younger students.
Candlemas at the Cathedral
A group of Year 4 pupils, accompanied by Mrs Spencer and Mrs McGee, visited the Cathedral this morning to help set up the magnificent displays for Candlemas. To see these beautiful arrangements fully lit, visit the Cathedral from 5.30pm tomorrow evening.
Oscar's Booking Site
We are currently looking into switching our booking site for Oscar's wraparound care. Apologies that this means parents are not yet able to book for the summer term. Don't worry, no other parents are booking ahead of you and also, we will definitely be operating the same sessions as this term! Sorry for the inconvenience.
