Hoyne Happenings
Hello Families,
Last week was an eventful week here at Pembroke. Simba visited us twice as he continues his training, he will be joining Pembroke officially in January. We will have an official date to share after the break.
Additionally, the Eton Street Singers performed with the Derby and Seaholm choirs at a fantastic concert on Thursday night. Our students did phenomenal singing and showing their Pembroke Pride. On Friday, we ended our week with an amazing visit from author Stacy McAnulty. Students learned about her books, the writing process, and heard her read one of her stories. Friday afternoon our incredible staff continued their learning and growth at professional development sessions across the district.
During his time we are grateful for the generosity of our families. A huge thank you for your support for SOS in helping families in need this season. On Wednesday we will have a Pembroke night at Sweet Dreams for Moon Beams at Corewell Health, please see below for details.
We will kick off the week ahead with PRIDE packs. All of our PRIDE Packs will be participating in a Community Read. Check out the blurb below to learn more.
On Friday, we will celebrate our amazing Fun Run this year with a movie day. Each grade level will get their chance to watch a movie and have popcorn in the gym. Students are encouraged to bring a small blanket to sit on. It is also Pajama Day!
Looking forward to a great week!

This gift crowd link will end on Thursday, December 19th at 8:30am. At that time, teachers will receive a notification about their gift and will be able to read the greetings. Each teacher will be able to choose how they want to use their gift by redeeming the collected amount into more than 130 types of gift cards, including an option for a Visa gift card.
Alma and How She Got Her Name

Pembroke will be participating in Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams on Wednesday, December 18th at Corewell Health (Beaumont Royal Oak). Moonbeams starts promptly at 8PM and is approximately a 10-minute activity. Bring a flashlight to shine at the hospital to let the patients know we are thinking about them. Please give yourself some extra time for parking and walking to our gathering spot.
Additionally, we will be collecting puzzles and coloring books for children in the hospital. You can drop off new puzzles or coloring books on the table outside the office or bring them that night. There will be a donation box just inside the Medical Office Building, south entrance, which faces the hospital. The door is near the tree with the green lights. There will be In-Kind Donation forms to fill out there as well, so they can thank you properly. To learn more about Moonbeams visit https://www.beaumont.org/moonbeams.
