Principal'sSummer UpdateJuly 17, 2026

A Message from the Principal, Dr. Christine Nadjarian

Dear St. Mary's Families,

I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing and refreshing summer!

We miss seeing our K2–8 students filling the hallways, classrooms, and playground. While the building is a little quieter, it has been wonderful to have our infant, toddler, and PreK Summer Program students and faculty here each day. It has been a joy to see that learning continues throughout the summer months.

Although school is out for our K2–8 students, things have certainly not slowed down behind the scenes! Our Facilities Team has been hard at work every day preparing our campus to welcome students and faculty back this fall. From routine maintenance and classroom improvements to campus enhancement projects, they are making sure everything is ready for another successful school year.

Meanwhile, our Administrative Team has been busy wrapping up the 2025–2026 school year while enthusiastically planning for the 2026–2027 school year. We have been working on curriculum, professional development, enrollment, student programming, school events, and many exciting initiatives that we look forward to sharing with you in the coming weeks.

We are especially looking forward to seeing many of our families at our Summer PreK-K1 Play Date in just a couple of weeks. It will be a wonderful opportunity to connect and build new friendships

We will be sending another newsletter in the coming weeks with additional updates, important back-to-school information, and more exciting news as we prepare for another incredible year together.

Until then, we hope you continue to enjoy a safe and restful summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to St. Mary's very soon!

We are proud to announce that, for the second consecutive year, St. Mary's has been recognized as a Boston Family Favorite in three categories! This year, we were honored as Best Faith-Based Middle School, Top 5 Faith-Based Elementary School, and Top 5 Faith-Based Preschool.

We are incredibly grateful to every member of the St. Mary's community who took the time to vote and to all those who continue to support our school each and every day. Your encouragement and dedication make achievements like these possible, and we are honored to be part of such a wonderful community.

Spring MAP Growth Testing

This past Spring's MAP Growth assessments yielded excellent scores yet again. For the Spring 2026 testing period, students consistently continued to perform well above state and national averages. For both Math and Reading, students scored in the 78th percentile, meaning that the median student performed better than 78% of students in the nation. In Language Usage, students in Grades 2 through 8 scored in the 83rd percentile, meaning that the median student performed better than 83% of students in the nation. These strong results are a testament to dedicated faculty and staff and nurturing parents and guardians who are true partners in education. While these scores are only one snapshot of a scholar and school, they do inform instruction and curriculum initiatives during the year and for the next school year. Data-driven instruction is an important aspect of a high-performing academic environment. On one of our upcoming Professional Development sessions on October 13th, 2026, St. Mary's Faculty will be delving deeper into MAP data, specifically Fall 2026 scores, with Dr. Kevin Holbrook, Director of Research, Evaluation & Analytics for the Catholic Schools Office in the Archdiocese of Boston. It will be an engaging time to find ways our faculty can instill higher growth in students who are already achieving at such high levels.

Facilities Update!

The facilities team has been hard at work this summer maintaining the beauty and safety of our school. The auditorium is getting a makeover with a new paint color! This space holds events, practices, lessons, and more as a place where our community gathers and learns. We look forward to seeing the finished product after a summer of hard work.

Infant & Toddler

Our Infant & Toddler students have been soaking up the sunshine and making the most of these beautiful summer days! From outdoor play to exploring nature, every moment is filled with smiles, laughter, and new discoveries. ☀️

Summer Program Update

Our preschool students began an exciting new unit on outer space! They kicked off the week with a reading of Good Night, Astronauts by Adam Gamble, where students discovered what life is like aboard a spaceship and learned about the important work astronauts do. During literacy, they used their imaginations to draw themselves as astronauts on their own space adventures. In the art center, students created colorful astronaut helmets with paint, while dramatic play transformed into a space station as they dressed up in astronaut costumes and explored with puppets! 🚀
