Ott's Outlook
January 2025
We are so excited to have our students and staff back in classrooms and I hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable break. I have already had a chance to visit campuses, watch some of our athletic teams in competition and see our fine arts and CTE students preparing for upcoming events and competitions. The excitement throughout the district is limitless.
Having everyone back on campus is also a reminder of the importance of providing a safe working and learning environment for the entire Temple ISD family. In the past year, the district has completed security vestibules at several of our campuses to ensure that every school in TISD has a secured entrance. Every campus is also staffed with either an SRO, armed security officer, or both. One of our newest safety and security projects started at the beginning of our winter break. Our school board approved the installation of impact-resistant film at every campus. Work is underway and in the very near future, every first-floor window and door at each of our campuses will be protected with that film. This security measure shows our commitment to meeting the community’s safety and security expectations.
In addition to this added measure, TISD has done extremely well in our safety audits conducted by the state of Texas. At this point, TISD has graded out at 100% passing with a few campuses left to go. Knowing that student and staff safety is job one, I want to assure you that we are not finished working with local agencies to enhance measures throughout the district. One example is a proposal that will add a police officer at every campus. Another example is installing perimeter fencing solutions around a number of courtyards and campuses; and lastly, auditing all “lines of sight” on campuses for added security cameras.
Safety and security will always be a priority for Temple ISD, and we are looking forward to securing resources for those measures.
I would like to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
School Board Recognition Month
Temple ISD is proud to join 1,025 school districts throughout Texas to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month.
Providing an excellent educational experience for all students in our district is a challenge that requires dedication, commitment and courage. Board service is a volunteer effort, accepted by only a few in the community. It is a tough job with no salary. It is a critically important responsibility that takes time, a mature outlook, and careful decision-making.
Board of Trustees, on behalf of Temple ISD thank you for caring about our children, families, staff and community. Your dedicated service is recognized and truly appreciated.
