2nd Grade Newsletter
March 9-13
Greetings!
Dear 2nd Grade Families,
March is full of exciting learning in our classrooms! We have been busy preparing for our Learner's Showcase on Thursday, March 12th! The students are excited to share what they have been learning with you! Please also note that our second grade musical has been rescheduled on the same night as Learners' Showcase!
π Math
In math you will get to see how students apply knowledge of financial literacy to plan and design a travel brochure! They are enjoying choosing a location and daydreaming of exciting activities they would enjoy on this pretend trip while staying within a budget!
π ELAR (English Language Arts & Reading)
In reading, we will continue to enjoy and notice work by author, Steve Jenkins. We have enjoyed the level of humor and silly characters that Helen Lester includes in her stories. The students have done a fabulous job of comparing the author's craft the past two weeks. We are strengthening our writing skills by taking our single paragraph outlines and drafting texts.
πΊοΈ Social Studies
This week we will be learning about the role of producers and consumers when creating a product from natural resources. We will be tracing the development of various products we use every day!
π Science
In science, students will explore how the physical characteristics of environments support plants in an ecosystem. We are examining how plants depend on living things, wind or water for pollination.
Have a great weekend!

Second Grade Musical
Thank you so much for understanding last week when I got sick. I haven't been that ill in a while and the timing couldn't have been worse!
We have thankfully had the opportunity to reschedule our performance for the same night as Learnerβs Showcase on Thursday, March 12th. Details below:
5:15 Performance β Cable/Wicker/Campbell
6:00 Performance β Broadwater/Womer/Smith
Ramos students will attend the performance that coincides with the Specials class they attend.
Doors will open 15 minutes before scheduled performance.
Attire is comfortable clothes, tennis shoes, and blue t-shirts.
We ask that Cable/Wicker/Campbell families come straight to the gym at 5 pm when doors open. We will have seats in the front rows for students, with families seated behind them. After your performance, we will have you exit the south doors and then you may re-enter the building to participate in Learnerβs Showcase.
If you are in Broadwater/Womer/Smith, feel free to participate in Learnerβs Showcase by visiting your classrooms! Then we will make an announcement around 5:50 inviting you to the gym for your performance!

If you are dropping off your childβs lunch, please make sure to bring it NO LATER than 12:00 PM.
We truly appreciate your help in making sure every child has a stress-free and smooth lunchtime. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
