Walnut Creek Weekly Update - 7/17/26
Dear Walnut Creek Learning Community,
I hope this email finds you well and enjoying your summer break! The weeks are flying by, and we will be welcoming our kids back to school before we know it!
As you have done each week of the summer, please continue to ensure that our students engage in some academic activity to prevent the "summer slide". Your involvement plays a crucial role in reinforcing your students' learning and keeping them on track for their academic success.
Linked below is a new learning activity that has been developed by our Science department:
I know that many of you have started “back to school” shopping and preparing for the upcoming school year. I am still waiting on a few key pieces of information to share with you all, but below are some of the key details that many of you have been waiting for. Assistant Principal Update - NEW INFO
I am excited to announce that Mrs. Maggie Oakley will be our new Assistant Principal at Walnut Creek! Below is an email from Mrs. Oakley. Please join me in welcoming her to our Creek Family!
Dear Walnut Creek Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Walnut Creek Middle School. It is a true honor to join this community, and I am excited to partner with you and our dedicated staff to support our students as we continue the tradition of excellence that makes Walnut Creek such a special place.
Although I am new to the Walled Lake Consolidated School District, Walnut Creek already feels familiar. I had the opportunity to spend time here throughout this past school year, shadowing and getting to know many of your students and the wider school community. During that time, I quickly witnessed the dedication, care, and collaboration that define this building. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join a community that is so deeply committed to helping every student succeed.
I bring ten years of experience in education, having taught secondary social studies while also coaching and sponsoring extracurricular activities. For the past three years, I have served as an Instructional Teacher Leader, supporting educators through professional learning, instructional coaching, and curriculum development. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that when a school community is united and supportive, our students thrive. I look forward to celebrating the incredible work happening in our classrooms and providing the support your children need to be successful.
Outside of school, my husband Jared and I love spending time with our dog, Winston, who keeps life entertaining. We are proud Michigan transplants and have truly enjoyed building a life here. In our free time, we are usually exploring our beautiful state, visiting family, or trying out new local restaurants.
As we begin this school year, I look forward to getting to know you and your students, learning from your experiences, and building strong relationships across our school community. My door is always open; please never hesitate to stop by, share an idea, ask a question, or simply introduce yourself. I am honored to be part of the Hawk family and can't wait to see all that we will accomplish together.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to a fantastic school year!
Warmly,
Maggie Clover Oakley
Assistant Principal Walnut Creek Middle School
Have a great day, It’s always a great day to be a hawk!
