Greetings ASASP Members Unit 2 and Unit 3,

Tomorrow, October 17, 2025 is the MSEA Conference in Ocean City. Many teachers will be down in Ocean City tomorrow for their annual conference or they will be professionally developing themselves from the location of their choosing.

Please be advised, informed, and clear that Unit II and Unit III members may also enjoy the conference OR professionally develop themselves the from the location of their choosing as well on Friday, October 17th. Where you choose to professionally develop yourself is totally and completely up to you and only you.

Tomorrow is your day of self directed professional development as you see fit!! After meeting and speaking with Dr. Kristi Baldwin, the Chief of Human Resources and her team, this evening on several occasions, all systems are go.

If any of you, receive any push back, please don't hesitate to push these buttons on your telephone keypad (240.544.8314) and leave a detailed text message.

Hopefully more clarification won't be necessary, as Dr. Kristi Baldwin and Superintendent Shawn Joseph are well aware of this notification this evening and will be informed of all push back.

Have a great day of Self-Directed Professional Development and a great and wonderful weekend.

RE: October 17, 2025, Self Directed Professional Development Day and PGCEA MSEA Convention

As a part of our ongoing commitment to professional growth and development, we will be holding a self-directed professional learning day on October 17, 2025, for staff who are scheduled to work as identified by the work day bulletin. This day is dedicated to empowering all staff to focus on professional growth areas that align with individual goals and the needs of PGCPS students and families.

Staff are encouraged to use this time to engage in self-directed activities that contribute to their professional development to enhance efficiency and impact within the district. Also on this day, PGCEA members have an opportunity to attend the MSEA Convention. As we continue aligning our efforts with the Strategic Plan to become a learning organization and a transformational workforce, we are once again reimagining the structure of our systemic day. On this day, we encourage staff to dedicate time to professional learning that enhances work performance. You will have the opportunity to exercise voice and choice in directing your own development as a professional. There will be non-mandatory professional learning opportunities from different divisions that you can register to attend or you can choose to engage in your own self-directed learning for your own edification. In support of Outcomes 3 and 4 in the Strategic Plan, we have two requests for the systemic professional learning day:

1. That you are prepared to share your learning with your supervisor and/or colleagues upon request.

2. Please be mindful that because we are all engaged as a system in professional learning, email responses may be delayed but check them throughout your regular work hours.

The Office of Professional Learning and Leadership is dedicated to evolving into a learning organization, and we hope to engage in more growth and development activities like this. Please contact the Office of Professional Learning and Leadership at office.proflearnlead@pgcps.org with any questions.
