Happy Sunday Wise Owl Families!

We are wrapping up an aWESome week at WES! It was great to see all of our Veterans who came out during our Veterans Day parade! A HUGE shout out to our Coaches and Student Ambassadors for putting together a great event.

Our focus this week (and beyond) is on literacy. We are excited to host the Scholastic Book Fair for our faculty, staff, students, and community. Did you know...

• Reading for 6 minutes a day reduces stress by 68%.
• When children have a home library, as little as 20 books of their own, they achieve 3 more years of schooling than children who don't have any books at home.
• Reading 20 minutes a day leads to 1.8 million words acquired over the course of 1 year.
• Children who read 1 million words a year are in the top 2% of reading achievement.
• Children learn 4,000 to 12,000 words per year simply through reading.

We will have voracious readers at WES! Please help us to continue to support that mission by encouraging your children to continue reading beyond the classroom. We look forward to seeing you at Literacy Night on Thursday, November 16th to share ways you can continue to support your children at home.

Our SIC met Monday to discuss the happenings at WES. We looked at the expectations for SICs and considered the purpose of a school's SIC. We will be determining our
