Welcome back! It was so good to see all the smiling faces this week. It was a great start to our last marking period. This is crunch time when there is so much unfinished learning and a lot to accomplish before the end of the year. It was great walk through classrooms and see our students working so hard! Keep up the great work!

Be sure to spread the word that we will be having our Maconaquah Round Up for our kindergarten, preschool, and child care families! It's happening next Thursday, see the flyer below.

3rd - 5th grade students

Students in grades 3 through 5 will soon take the ILEARN Assessment, an important measure of their progress toward grade-level standards. Please review the testing dates carefully and make sure your child is present and on time each day. During this busy time of year, with many distractions outside of school, encourage your child to get plenty of rest and come prepared to do their best on the ILEARN Assessment.

IMPORTANT - Changes in Transportation IMPORTANT - Changes in Transportation

Contact Front Office at your child's building

If there is a change in your child's transportation, whether they will be picked up or riding a bus, it MUST be communicated with the front office. This can be done by sending a note to school or calling the office. If you call the office, please make sure you speak with a person. There is a central list at each elementary school, which allows us to check when students are unsure and the teacher may not be available. Do not just send a message to the teacher. The office MUST be notified. Thank you!

NOTE: Transportation changes should be in to the office by 2:00 pm.

Background Checks & Photo IDs Background Checks & Photo IDs

We love having you visit our schools! To ensure the safety of all our students, anyone who wishes to volunteer or have lunch with their student must first complete a volunteer background check. You can find the link under the Parent Resources tab on our website.

A friendly reminder: for the safety of our students, please remember to bring your photo ID whenever you visit the school for any reason, including student pickup, lunch, or meetings.

3rd Grade: Mars Shaffer

Mars is kind and hardworking! This week, especially, he's been showing a growth mindset by persevering through his math work, even when it was really tough. He's also been participating in class each day, whether it’s by answering a question, adding to our discussions, or asking his own questions when something doesn't make sense. He's also been helping to take care of our classroom space by cleaning up around him, organizing our schedule, and always offering to help me out. I really love having Mars in our class, and I'm so impressed with how he's grown this year!

5th Grade: James Patterson

James demonstrated honesty and integrity this week in PE class when I called him safe, but he corrected me and said he was, in fact, out. It was a display of true character, and such an act should be held in high regard, which I wanted to commend him for. James comes to class ready to work hard, try his best, and get better with a smile on his face. He has been a great friend to others in class and helpful when it comes time to picking up equipment. Keep setting a great example for others, James!
