Hello Families!

Happy Mother's Day to all those who fill the big shoes of mom for our students! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather and had a chance to spend time with family and friends.

It is a big week at Morenci MS/HS. The district Art Show is Thursday from 3-8:00 p.m. In addition we have Awards Night and NHS induction on Thursday Night. Awards Night is a time to celebrate student growth and progress in all areas. Students will be recognized for hard work and progress over the course of the year. NHS Induction is a time to recognize students for academic achievement. I am looking forward to celebrating student success with all of you.

This is the last week of school for seniors. The official last day of school is Thursday with a special breakfast and their "This I Believe" presentations. Friday will include graduation practice and a Senior and Kindergarten clap out. Please see below for specific times and details.

This will be the last week for assignment recovery. Final exams and NWEA testing will begin this week. ECHO courses will start on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Clarissa Berger attends the Marketing and Graphic Design program at LISD Tech Center. In March Clarissa attended the DECA State Career Development Conference in Detroit. Clarissa and her partner Ellie Schutte from Hudson qualified in the School-Based Enterprise competition and advanced to the DECA International competition in Orlando Florida in April. Clarissa and Ellie had to come up with a theme, presentation and a 27 page handbook to present to a panel of judges. The two did not advance in the competition, but the experience is something they will remember forever.

Congratulations to ninth grader Rebecca Cox and being selected the Best of Lenawee in the Lenawee District Library bookmark contest through the Stair District Library.

Each week, during lunch on Friday, Morenci MS/HS recognizes students who have earned a Bulldog Bone by drawing out winners from all the students who have earned one over the course of the year. Students earn Bulldog Bones through their hard work, helpfulness, dedication, respect, and resilience, or efforts in an area they are trying to improve. Teachers and staff hand them out throughout the week and students turn them into the drawing box by Friday's lunchtime. Five to seven students are drawn out each week and students get to spin the wheel for various prizes. This week's winners are:

It is hard to believe the school year has gone by so quickly. I am sure you are all excited and looking forward to graduation. The athletic department is looking for adult or student workers to help take tickets for spring sporting events. We are also in need of someone willing to learn and work the Gamechanger app during home JV and V baseball games. The Infinite Campus Parent Portal gives you the ability to view student attendance, class assignments, grades, and more! Parents can access the portal anytime from their computer or Campus Parent App. If you have not received your unique Parent Portal Access link, please contact Eileen Moore at emoore@morencibulldogs.org or Tracy Schell at tschell@morencibulldogs.org. Please be sure to include your child's name and grade in the email.

We are now accepting online deposits for adult lunches, any extra purchases at the high school and milk purchases at the elementary school for the cafeteria through Meal Magic. Meal Magic’s Family Portal is a food service system that allows staff and/or parents to track what they purchase, apply daily spending limits and deposit money into their accounts. Meal Magic’s Family Portal can be found on the school website under parent resources or https://morenci.familyportal.cloud/. A $2.00 service fee will be applied to each transaction. OK2SAY is the student safety program that allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
