Drop-Off Reminders

We have been noticing a couple of things happening at student drop-off in the morning that can be safety concerns:

1. People have been dropping students off in the lower parking lot instead of in front of the school. On nice days, this is fine since they can enter directly onto the playground and there is supervision beginning at 7:50. On rainy/snowy days when we have indoor recess, our staff is inside supervising indoor recess. On these days please have your students enter at the front of the building.

2. People stop their car in front of the cafeteria or front entry doors to drop their students off and don't pay any attention to the traffic building up behind them. This means that traffic backs up onto Tolman Creek Rd. causing a traffic hazard for other drivers, and for students walking to school. Please pull your car all the way up to the front of the drop off circle before letting your child exit the car, or park your car in the parking lot. If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park your car.

Thank you for your attention to these matters and for modeling safe, respectful, responsible behavior for our students!

Oregon State Assessments

Bellview 3rd-5th graders will participate in the Oregon Statewide Summative Assessments in Math and English Language Arts this spring. 5th graders will also participate in the Science Assessment. These assessments help measure students' skills in Reading, Writing, Research, and Mathematical concepts. It is our goal to provide every student with the supports they need to accurately show what they know.

World Down Syndrome Day- Rock Your Socks March 21st!

zoom_out_map

Little fun fact of “Rock Your Socks” for World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) on March 21st:

These are chromosomes (pictured above).

The one circled is chromosome 21 – note the three copies of the chromosome. This is Trisomy 21 also known as Down syndrome. You and I have just two copies of Chromosome 21. People with Down syndrome have 3 copies.

They look like socks, right? This is where the idea of Rock your Socks for World Down Syndrome Day was born from… simple!

On March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day, we celebrate and raise awareness by wearing our brightest, loudest socks.

And why is WDSD held on March 21st?

21:3 (chromosome 21, 3 copies = 21st day of 3rd month of the year)

Youth Truth Student & Family Survey

Bellview School wants to hear from our students and families! We’re partnering with YouthTruth to hear what students and families have to say about their school experience. This feedback will give us valuable feedback to better understand the experience of students and families so we can work to improve our school climate! If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact Christine McCollom.

Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on 3/24/23 by clicking this link: http://www.ytsurvey.org/asdfamily23

Please note:

  • The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
  • We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
  • If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
  • If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
