Principal's Notes
Happy New Year! This was a wonderful full week of learning after a nice long winter break. Students and teachers appeared happy to get back into the daily routines of school. We look forward to the next five weeks of solid learning time before February vacation.
The Community Meeting scheduled for January 12th is on hold at this time. We will communicate the date of the next meeting when it is scheduled.

- She is receiving this Magnificent Meerkat nomination because she models responsibility, hard work, determination, and kindness in our classroom community. She shines as a student by focusing on her assignments, asking questions to increase her understanding, and by treating all her peers with respect.
- Since coming back from break, he has shown great focus and responsibility in the classroom. He has been following expectations, staying engaged in his work, and setting a positive example for others.

School Counseling Corner
Hello Cole families and happy New Year! It has been a busy week here at Cole School as students adjust to being back to school after a long vacation! You can help your child readjust by maintaining consistent routines at home related to bedtime, mealtimes, and homework time. In class, a lot of students have been brainstorming their New Year’s Resolutions - you can ask them what goal they’ve set and see if you can help them work towards achieving it. Next week, students will take the Fastbridge screeners in class to assess their progress in ELA, math, and Social Emotional Learning.

PE Happenings
With an opportunity to practice their teamwork, cooperation and communication skills, all grades had an exciting time playing “Cross the River.” By using rocks (colored dots) and tree stumps (milk crates), teams were able to experience self-discovery, creative thinking and problem solving to reach the island (gymnastic matts) and the other side of the river.
