Next Steps: Superintendent Search Process
Dear District 65 Community -
We hope you are enjoying your summer. As we look ahead to the new school year, we are grateful for Dr. Witherspoon's leadership during this transition and for the dedication of our staff who are preparing to welcome students and educators back in just over a month.
The School Board has taken an important step in the superintendent search by issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify an executive search firm to help guide the process.
The Board remains committed to conducting a thoughtful and inclusive search that reflects the voices, values, and priorities of the District 65 community. The selected search firm will support the Board in developing the process, engaging stakeholders, recruiting a strong and diverse candidate pool, and guiding the Board through the selection process.
Following the selection of a search firm, the Board will announce opportunities for staff, families, students and community members to share the qualities and priorities they believe are most important for the District's next superintendent. The information gathered will be used to develop a leadership profile to inform the screening process. Additionally, the Board has directed the selected search firm to incorporate District visits and opportunities for public engagement with finalist candidates into the search process.
Selecting the superintendent is among the Board's most important responsibilities. The Board is committed to finding a leader who will build on the District's strengths, help ensure systems are in place to support students and staff, and work in partnership with all stakeholders to advance educational excellence and financial sustainability.
Regular updates, key milestones, and opportunities to participate will be shared throughout the process and will also be posted to the ‘Superintendent Search’ page of the District 65 website.
