LPO Drum Major Onyx Houston Shines in Rome's New Year's Parade

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Onyx Houston, the LPO Drum Major, who took part in the New Year’s Parade in Rome on January 1, 2025! The parade, which began at 6 a.m. California time, was a global spectacle, and Onyx was proud to represent Oroville on such a prestigious stage.

Onyx was one of only three drum majors selected to perform in Group 18, a special segment hosted by USA Varsity. Alongside another talented drum major, Onyx showcased incredible choreography, spinning the mace in a flawless routine, while a third drum major wowed the crowd with military-style spins. Their performance was nothing short of spectacular and truly highlighted the skill and dedication of our local talent.

For those who missed it, you can watch the full parade replay here: New Year's Parade in Rome Replay.

Please join us in congratulating Onyx for his incredible performance and for bringing pride to our school and community on an international stage. We look forward to seeing even more accomplishments from him in the future!

Stay Focused, Stay Safe: The Dangers of Distracted Driving

Savannah created this striking illustration for her Driver’s Ed final project, reminding us all of the dangers of distracted driving. The message is simple but critical: Keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

Quick Safety Tips:

  • Turn off notifications before driving.
  • Let passengers handle your phone.
  • Pull over if you must check your device.

Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents, but we can all help make the roads safer by staying focused. Let Savannah’s artwork inspire you to drive distraction-free!
