The Sixth Scoop

Dear 6th Grade Parents and Guardians,

We hope you had a wonderful Indigenous People's Day and enjoyed the extended weekend with your child. Thank you for attending our parent-teacher conferences last week—it was great to see you all!

As we begin this short 4-day week, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring your child:

1. Brings their fully charged iPad to school
2. Has their binder with notebooks and writing supplies

We're excited to share some highlights from our 6th-grade Social Studies classes:

• Students are learning about life in New Guinea and nomadic lifestyles
• They're developing critical thinking skills by "thinking like a historian"
• Engaging in discussions about new concepts
• Practicing writing skills through claim, evidence, and reasoning paragraphs

Your support in your child's education is invaluable, and we truly appreciate your partnership. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

As we settle into the school year, we want to ensure that our classrooms are prepared for the inevitable sniffles and sneezes that come with the changing seasons! We kindly ask for your help in donating tissue boxes to our 6th-grade classrooms.

Having tissues readily available helps keep our students comfortable and focused on their learning. If you’re able, please send in a box (or two!) with your child by Friday, October 18th. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps create a healthier classroom environment.

If your child was not at Nichols on picture day, this will be their last opportunity to take a picture to be in our 2024-2025 yearbook. Retakes will happen between 8 - 10:30 am. Please make sure to note this time as you are planning appointments and any other activities.
