Elementary Students Become Handwashing Warriors

Nurse Sarah visited Baker Elementary’s kindergarteners on October 15th to celebrate Global Handwashing Day and teach proper handwashing techniques.

Students put their skills to the test using a special lotion that glowed under a black light, revealing spots they might miss while washing. After a thorough scrub, they checked their hands again to see how well they had done.

Our handwashing warriors are building healthy habits for the winter ahead!

Learning about Unity and Kindness

Mrs. Main visited Ms. Kupres’ class to share a lesson about unity and help students understand the differences between bullying, conflict, and a mean moment.

The lesson sets the stage for Unity Day on October 21st, when students are encouraged to wear orange to show their support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Unity Day reminds us to speak up with kindness, reach out with acceptance, and include others through friendship.

We look forward to seeing our Wildcats unite in orange!

A Crunch Heard Around the District

On Thursday, October 15th, Wayland Union Schools celebrated Michigan Apple Crunch Day! This annual event encourages healthy eating, promotes farm-to-school purchasing, and supports Michigan’s apple industry.

Across the district, students and staff joined the fun by wearing red, biting into crisp apples, and enjoying warm apple crisp.

A big thank-you to our Food Service Department for making the celebration memorable. Together, we created a crunch heard around the district!
