CrusaderFamily News January 5, 2024

Carver Crusader Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you had the chance to relax and enjoy time spent with family and friends over the holiday season. January is a time of year for new beginnings and positive change. When we returned to school on Tuesday, I encouraged students to make resolutions and set goals for the upcoming year. I quoted Dayna Lorentz, "Climb high. Climb far. Your goal the sky. Your aim the stars." I continue to be inspired by the energy and enthusiasm our students bring to school everyday. I look forward to watching them reach for the stars in the year ahead.

It is a privilege to be a part of and serve the community of Carver. Thank you for your continued support. Please reach out at any time.

Our Computer Science Pathway students have developed an app for families to navigate through evening highlights.

HS Mid Year and MS Reading and Writing Assessment Update and Schedule

This year we will reinstate Mid Year and Final Exams in all content areas for all students in grades 9 - 12. The Mid Year and Final Exam will each count as 5% of a student’s final grade in each course. We will also reinstate a Schoolwide Reading and Writing Assessment for students in grades 6 - 8. The reading and writing assessment will not be factored into students' term or overall grade. These assessments increase academic rigor and best prepare our students to take formative, cumulative tests. These assessments were traditionally practiced at CMHS but as in many school districts were lost between the March 2020 - 2023 school years. We look forward to bringing back these academic assessments and are confident our students will meet these challenging expectations.

Please see the attached exam schedule. Note, we will be having a schoolwide early dismissal on Friday, January 19th and early dismissal for grades 9 -12 on Monday, January 22nd and Tuesday, January 23rd in order to accommodate the testing and scoring schedule.

It's time to restock the shelves of Shane Gives Thanks Food Pantry. We are asking all students to help us in restocking the shelves. The top most needed items are: Kid cereals, Taco Kits, pancake mix & syrup, Rice, instant potatoes, box mac and cheese. The food drive will run until Friday, January 12th. Collection bins will be outside the main office and HS guidance. Questions please reach out to Charlie Donovan or Jesse Badger, Project 351 Ambassadors.

FINAL PAYMENT for Senior Trip is Due January 26th

Checks made payable to CMHS
