CRMS Update for Students & Families
Return to school on Wednesday, February 24, 2021
Good evening Eagle families,
I’ve heard from many of you, and it sounds like water is starting to come back on, and we are all taking steps towards the recovery process from the challenges of the last week. The recovery will take time and we are here to support our Eagles! As you have heard from LISD, most campuses including CRMS are scheduled to return to in-person and virtual learning on Wednesday, February 24th. At this time, we are still checking our campus daily for potential damage; however, currently, we are fortunate to not have water damage or other significant issues affecting CRMS. Here is what you need to know to prepare:
- This Wednesday (February 24th), will be an A-day and will NOT be an early release day. We will follow our regular bell schedule and resume classes from 8:10-3:25.
- We will return to our blended learning model for students to participate either in-person or virtually.
- For some, you have signed up to return to in-person learning this grading period. We realize that this may be your first time on campus this school year, so we will have our staff welcoming you at the entrances on Wednesday morning. They will be more than happy to greet you and show you around as needed.
- Due to the extenuating circumstances from this past week, if you would like to remain virtual instead of returning to in-person learning, you may email your counselor to remain virtual. Your next opportunity to return to in-person learning will be March 8th or the start of the next grading period.
- If you are returning to in-person on Wednesday, please remember to complete the daily Frontline Health Screener as our COVID protocols are still in place. Please wear your mask, wash your hands frequently, and stay home if you have any symptoms.
- On Wednesday, whether you are attending in-person or virtually, please do not stress about school work that you may think is due. We are starting a new grading period, but our first priority is the well-being of our students. We want to “see” you and know you are doing okay after this winter storm. If you are still without water or power, please let your AP or counselor know. There are supports available, and this is our priority this week!
- CRMS activities including practices and rehearsals will resume on Wednesday. Thursday's track meet has been canceled to allow for practices. The first track meet will now be Thursday, 3/4/2021.
Additional important information this week:
- CNS will provide meal services for the community on all MS campuses (including CRMS) again on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. daily. Meals are available for anyone 18 years old or younger, even if they are not enrolled in LISD. If you were able to pick up your meal kit today, we truly appreciate your patience in line. We were grateful to be able to serve all 290+ children in the community who waited in the line. They received multiple days worth of food today, so tomorrow will allow us to serve even more families.
- We have had some community members reach out and ask how they can help. At this time, the biggest need still appears to be water. If you have any bottled water you are able to donate, please drop it off at the front office at CRMS, and we will help to distribute it to students and families in need. We will be accepting bottled water donations again on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the CRMS front office. We will keep you posted on additional needs as we move forward.
For now, please continue to take care of yourself and your family and please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything. Some of our Eagle students, staff and families still remain without water or are boiling water, so if you are in need, please do not hesitate to ask me, your AP, or counselor, and we will do our best to help you with anything. There are supports available on campus, and this is our priority right now.
