QCVA Families,

As we head into Thanksgiving Break, this is a great opportunity for our virtual students to catch up, stay on track, and finish strong. Please take some time this week to review your progress, complete any missing assignments, and reach out to your teachers if you need support. A little focused work now can make a big difference as we move into the final stretch of the semester.

Our QCVA facilitators will not be in on Wednesday, November 26. Please reach out on Monday or Tuesday (November 24-25) if you need any help.

Warm regards,

Kevin Aikins
Principal, Queen Creek Virtual Academy

Key Deadlines and Contacts

Please note the specific coursework deadlines based on your student's grade level:

  • Kindergarten to Grade 6: All coursework must be completed in SchoolsPLP by Monday, December 16th. For any K-Grade 6 concerns, please contact Mrs. Lael Rogers lrogers@qcusd.org or via the SchoolsPLP chat. Grade school students will complete the Midterms virtually at the end of their coursework.

  • Grades 7 to 12: All coursework must be finished by Tuesday, December 10th. Classes will close out immediately after the final exams on December 17, and no extensions will be given.

Action Steps for Grades 7-12 Success

For our Grades 7 through 12 students, focused effort is required to complete coursework and prepare for the upcoming in-person final exams. If you are behind pace or currently have a low grade, please contact your subject facilitator immediately to create an action plan to improve your grade or get back on track. Students are also strongly encouraged to reach out to their subject facilitators to redo coursework:

  • Resubmit Coursework: Resubmit projects and labs that did not receive a satisfactory grade.

  • Retake Assessments: Retake quizzes and unit tests where you scored low.

Please Note: The decision to accommodate or approve resubmissions and retakes is at the facilitator's discretion. Courses of action will vary, so students must contact their individual facilitators soon to discuss options. Click here for subject facilitators information and tutoring times.

🍨The Battle of the Scoops 🍨

Thank you to everyone who participated in our poll last week to determine the best ice cream flavor! The competition was fierce, but we have our winners. Taking the gold medal for the favorite scoop is Cookies and Cream! A close second place goes to the classic and versatile Vanilla, with the beloved Chocolate rounding out the top three. While Strawberry and Chocolate Chip didn't make the podium, we know they are still fan favorites!

Each fall, Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) completes its Annual Financial Report (AFR) which is a state-required summary of the district’s financial activity for the fiscal year ending June 30. Mandated by A.R.S. §15-904, the AFR details revenues, expenditures, and fund balances, and is submitted to the Arizona Auditor General by October 15. The Auditor General uses this data to prepare statewide Classroom Spending Reports, supporting transparency and accountability in school finance.

The AFR captures all expenditures, revenues, and transfers for the year and forms the basis for the district’s audited financial statements. It helps review QCUSD’s overall financial health, ensures internal checks on budgets and expenditures, and identifies trends to guide future planning. The report informs multiple stakeholders including QCUSD leadership, auditors, the Arizona Department of Education, bondholders, the Auditor General’s Office, and the community, all of whom rely on its data to evaluate financial stewardship and district priorities.
