Hall Elementary
π A Note from the Principal
Dear Hall Elementary Family,
It's hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first nine weeks! I continue to be amazed by the learning and growth that our students have experienced in just nine short weeks of school. Our teachers are thankful for the opportunity to share your child's growth and achievement since the beginning of school through parent teacher conferences. Our goal is that every parent has an opportunity to meet with their teacher for a conference in the month of October.
I hope you all enjoy the fall break this weekend and have the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather and do something fun! We will see everyone back on Wednesday, October 14.
Letβs take a look at whatβs ahead and celebrate a few highlights from this past week and upcoming important dates.
Warmly,
Stephanie Romero
Principal

Parent Instructional Walk Opportunity
This year, Hall is committed to giving parents an opportunity to peek inside our classrooms. Learning looks a bit different than when we were all in school, so this will be a great way for you to see how it has evolved! These walks will be short glimpses inside learning K-5 and in our specials classrooms. We will spend about 2-3 minutes in a few of our rooms and then debrief together at the end of our time. Since you will be with students during our instructional day, you must have your PISD volunteer background check completed to be considered. You can find the form at the bottom of this newsletter. For each instructional walk opportunity, we will take no more than 10 parents to keep classroom disruption minimal.
If you would like to be considered, please fill out this quick form and I will be in contact with our first group soon. The first instructional walk opportunity will be on Tuesday, October 27th @8:15-9:15.

Learning about informational text in reading and then practicing writing informational text in writing. Today we brainstormed ideas about what we are an expert on.
First grade students working collaboratively comparing numbers 10 more 10 less prompts and using concrete, pictorial, and abstract models to compare numbers 10 more 10 less during the heart of the workshop.
First grade students wrote informational texts using a single paragraph outline.
First grade students went outside to discover systems on the playground. They drew the system, labeled their parts, then discussed what would happen if one of the parts was missing.
