Hoyne Happenings
Hello Families,
We had a fantastic 1st week back! It was great to see everyone and the excitement in coming back to school. We revisited norms and dove back into learning. This week we are thrilled to announce that Simba is joining Pembroke. Simba will be here part time at first as he adjusts to working in a school. At Respect Circle last week, we shared important information with students on how to treat Simba and what to expect.
Last Thursday, we also sent information on our ALICE drill happening today. Please reach out if you have any questions. We appreciate your support in keeping students safe at school. Additionally, this week we will be starting iReady testing, a detailed letter regarding this assessment was sent home on Thursday as well. If you have questions regarding the specific times or details of your child please reach out to their classroom teacher.
This week we will celebrate Martin Luther King Day with several activities. On Wednesday, students will participate in a Pride Pack learning about Martin Luther King and his dedication to the service of others. They will be making signs to carry in a Silent March on Friday. On Friday, students will be packing Snack Pax as an act of service for those in our community and then participate in an all school Silent March and Respect Circle.
We look forward to a great week! As a reminder we have a half day of school on Friday with dismissal at 11:50 and no school on Monday, January 20th.

Data collected from the online form will be utilized to help district leadership determine program locations.

Cold Weather Reminders
As the weather changes and is getting wetter and colder, here are a few friendly reminders!
- ·Label, label, label! Label every jacket, hat, glove, and mitten! We can easily empty out our lost and found if we know who it belongs to.
- We go to play outside unless it is below 10 degrees (including wind chill) so please send your child with cold-weather items suited for the temperature.
- When there is snow on the ground students need boots and snow pants in order to play on the field and playground equipment.
Parking Lot Reminders
- If your child needs assitance getting out of the car, we ask that you park in a spot and walk your child to the building. Please do not get out of your car in the drop off line as it creates a back-up in the drop off line.
- We ask that families pull as far forward as possible before letting students out of the car.
- If you are parking at pick-up, it is helpful if you pull around the lot and fill the spots closest to the front first.
- If possible, after you have dropped off your students, pulling forward and merging towards the front of line is also helpful in keeping the flow of traffic moving.
Thank you in advanced!
