Dear parents, carers, staff and friends,
News this week
How to be a lion
As we started back at school, we shared a picturebook 'How to be a lion' by Ed Vere in all classes across the school. The book explores the idea that true strength lies not just in fierceness, but also in gentleness, consideration, and the courage to be yourself - even when it might not be the popular thing to do.
The children have created some beautiful learning - writing, drawing, poetry, and art work which we now have on display. Isn't it wonderful?
You can read the story together at home - listen here:
Maths in 4th Class
Andy's 4th Class were working hard in Maths learning about place value - thousands, hundreds, tens and ones! Great work.
All about Food in Senior Infants
Carla's Junior and Senior Infants have been learning about food.
Music Generation in Infants
We welcomed our new Music Generation teacher Sinéad this week. She will be working with Molly, Andreea, Alannah and Ali's classes every week.
Reminder for parents/carers
Just a reminder to all parents/carers as we settle into the school year - if your child has any difficulty with another child in school or on the yard - please speak to a school adult. It is not helpful or appropriate to approach another child or their parent/carer about an issue between the children. The school adults will speak to the children and resolve any issue that arises and equally, when we need to, we will speak to the child's adult at home.
The school adults need to know what is going on and we are best placed to have the conversations that are needed. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Join a GAA Club!
The Chairperson of St Brendan’s GAA club, based in Grangegorman, Dublin 7, has contacted us to offer children the opportunity to become part of the club. They offer Gaelic football, hurling and camogie activities for children, and they are currently inviting boys and girls under the age of 12 to join their teams. Team sport provides so much more than physical activity. It helps children build confidence, learn the value of teamwork, and develop friendships that last well beyond the field. Being part of a club also strengthens community spirit, giving young people a sense of belonging and pride in contributing to something bigger than themselves.
Whether the children are completely new to sport or already have some experience, they will be warmly welcomed. The focus is on participation, enjoyment, and skill development in a supportive and inclusive environment. If you are interested, you can contact Chairperson.stbrendans.dublin@gaa.ie or 0879747908 for further information on training times and registration.
