WCES Staffing Updates WCES Staffing Updates

Exciting Staffing Updates!

We’re thrilled to share some important staffing news as we continue to grow and prioritize the needs of our students.

Welcome Rachel Pritchett!
Rachel has officially joined our fifth-grade team. Last week, she worked diligently to set up her classroom, connect with her grade-level team, and meet with our administrative staff. Her class will be opening very soon, and we’re confident she will make a meaningful impact in our upper grades.

Supporting Student Success
To better support our learners, we’re adding additional staff members to help reduce the student-teacher ratio. This means more individualized attention and increased support in the classroom—a win for both students and teachers!

Ongoing Recruitment
We are actively interviewing candidates for an open second-grade teaching position and a kindergarten paraprofessional role. Our commitment remains strong in finding the best possible individuals to join our team, and we’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

Progress Reports and Viewing Grades Progress Reports and Viewing Grades

The first progress report of the year will be available for viewing in Campus Parent on Friday, September 19th. This is a 4.5 progress report of the first semester. Please remember there are not many grades at this time of the year which can result in extreme grades (high or low). Course averages accumulate throughout the semester with the final grade coming at the end of the semester. As always, we encourage you to check Campus Parent frequently to review your child's grades.

New FCS Directions and Extended Time

We are excited to share a new, simpler way for parents to sign up for the Optional Device Protection Plan for student devices. This plan provides families with affordable protection against accidental damage, loss, or theft of district-issued devices.

To support families, we’ve developed multiple resources:

  • Step-by-step written instructions for different parent scenarios:

    • New Parents / Parents adding a student to their household
    • Existing Parents with a Parent Portal account
    • New Parents creating a New Parent Portal account

  • A short video walkthrough showing parents exactly how to complete the process.

These resources are posted on the FCS Strategy and Technology webpage for easy access.

ALL IN ON ATTENDANCE – Building Strong Routines

September is the perfect time to set consistent morning and bedtime routines that make school attendance a natural habit. Students who start the year strong are more likely to maintain excellent attendance all year long. Students who miss fewer than 5 days in the first semester are 3 times more likely to stay on track in reading and math. The late bell rings at 7:40am for elementary school. Students should be in their classroom ready to learn at that time.
