Monday Message from Mr. Gaines

Good afternoon, Falcon Family!

We are actively pressing our way toward the end of the first nine weeks. Please continue to partner with us by encouraging your child to stay caught up with his or her assignments. The RACE (Restate the Question, Answer the Question, Cite The Source, and Explain) is in fully effect across all of our classes as we work on Writing Across the Curriculum. When reviewing your child's writing assignments, ask them about the RACE strategy.

There is still time to nominate/sign up for our School Improvement Council. Volleyball is home tonight hosting the Lady Tigers from Williams Middle School. Football is on the road Wednesday to Dr. Ronald E. McNair School of Digital Communication and Leadership in Lake City. Best wishes to our student athletes!

Feel free to contact us at 843-664-8467 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. with any questions or concerns you have.

Stay safe, well, and learning!

Jeffery A. Gaines, Principal

Over the weekend, Hero's Hideout held an event to donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Southside Middle Dance Department. They also donated school supplies for our students! Thank you, Miss Lewis for strengthening our community business partnerships!

Ellexis Lee has been recognized by the teachers of the Fine Arts and Technology Academy as Falcon Fine Arts Student of the Month for August 2021. Leadership, dedication, and her commitment to academic excellence were a few traits noted by her teachers. Congratulations, Ellexis!

Southside Middle School has two full-time school nurses on staff to serve our students and staff. The Health Office is located at the end of the 100 Hall.

Our first Title 1 Parent Workshop was a success! Thank you to all who came out to support. Shout out to Mrs. Skipper, Family/Community Engagement Liaison; Ms. Courtney Harris, Student Support Facilitator; and Mrs. Stacy Magee, 7th Grade Science Teacher and Technology Coach for coordinating and facilitating an informative workshop!
